Highly carbonated tongue dance but little head. Starts with orange, turns hoppy bitter, then pleasantly sour. Subtle hops aroma. Goes well with my beef chili topped with chopped onions, jalapeños, and sour cream.

I’ve drank a truckload of this beer over the last 10+ years... But I’ll try to be objective.
Citrus fruit, pine, and onion hop aroma, with a little bread crust. Nice hop flavor and substantial bitterness, balanced with some lightly toasted bread malt flavor. Dry malt flavor -- relative to the style.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Golden color out of the bottle with a thin white head. Nice fresh citrus hop nose with lots of grapefruit rind. Lots of hop flavors with red grapefruit, orange zest and some water. The beer seems a little thin, but then again it is a 4% beer. Good hop flavor, but not enough malts to really support it. Easy drinking hoppy beer.

On tap at brewery. Clear golden with a fizzy white head. Light citrus hops aroma and a grassy citrus taste with a decent bitterness.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Poured into a pint glass.
4.0 A: Moderately hazed dark orange color. Two fingers of off-white, creamy/frothy head. Retention is above average and a good sized ring of lacing is left.
3.0 S: Lightly toasty with a light crystal malt component. Light herbal and earthy hoppiness. Maybe a touch soapy. Not a lot of going on here.
2.0 T: Much soapier than the nose suggested. Surprising breadiness presumably mainly from the yeast. Mild bitterness without really any hop flavor. Tastes empty.
2.0 M: Lighter to lighter medium body. Moderate carbonation. Chewy from the yeast. Lacking all creaminess.
2.0 D: Not my favorite pale ale. Lacking flavor and a good mouthfeel.

Lemon zest. Sure, there is a hint of malt in the aroma, a hint of bitterness at the tail end, and a decent body throughout, but mostly its lemon zest. Not bad at all.
