This rich, Northwest-style Pale Ale is a rare feat of balance: unfiltered, dry-hopped to 40 IBUs, and deliciously sessionable. Groove on this two-time Great American Beer Festivalģ Gold Medal winner (2001 and 2002 Bitter Category). It really smoothes out the bumps.

On tap @ Wasatch Sugarhouse. Sort of hazed golden pour with white foam. A bit of blueberry and a whole lot of grassy hops. Somewhat pithy, too. Mild malt flavor and sweetness. Pretty good bready character, but the grassiness is a little too much.

Unfiltered orange/amber beer with a fizzy light head that kicks up when you take a drink and quickly settles down to nothing, ok lacing. Huge hop smell to this beer, but itís not in the taste. Very citrusy. But itís got a sort of wheat malt taste that dominates the flavor profile. Refreshing, but a bit light in the mouthfeel. This would make a good session beer.

Aroma: some citrus and herbs notes, caramel. Appearance: hazy copper color, thin white head. Taste: medium herbal bitterness, caramel, roasted notes, quite dry and slightly watery, Palate: low body and medium carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Rather English PA than APA, but still ok.

On tap at the River Room. Poured out with a thick head, needed a spoon to clear enough off to finish the pour. Hops arenít as apparent in the nose as in the taste. Fairly bitter for an APA, crisp, clean. Body is on the lighter side.

bottle. Initially pours clear amber with a thin white head and ends hazy. Big hoppy aroma with orange notes. Medium bodied, crisp carbonation with a dryish mouthfeel. Cereal malt flavour with citric hops a touch metallic.

Sample pour at squatters in salt lake city. Frothy head deep orange hue. Robust malt and piney aroma. Comes off a little wateryier than Iíd hoped. I get a little vanilla, little bitter, little wheaty.

Light amber pour, nice head. Grainy with mellow hop character. Perfectly drinkable but nowhere near a standout.

Can. Itís an unclear, golden-orange beer with a finger-thick off-white head. The aroma has hop pellets, pine cones, orange zest and some hints of pale wort. Piney and lightly orange peel-ish flavor with malt notes and a decent bitterness. Medium to full-bodied, dry and nicely carbonated. Lasting finish. A bit too much on the hop pellet side this one, but nice anyway. Impressive body for a beer this weak. Quenching. 140613
