3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Jennifer Gottlieb, the cutest woman on the planet. Pours a dense, thick cheddar orange with a freakin’ huge head of white. Aroma is field hay, barn must, and light flower bread. Flavor is buttery hay and berry wth subtle straw and musty grass notes. Thick, oily mouthfeel. Better than average, yes, but not spectacular.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Hazy straw, lively carbonation, large sudsy white head, spotty lacing. Pale bready nose, slightly yeasty, some pale fruit, perhaps a little tropical as well. Fruity on the tongue, not too sweet, rather spritzy. Fairly yeasty and bready on the tongue as well. Not too heavy, yet thick enough to provide a mouthfeel thats above average. A little alcohol is noticeable on the exit. Doesn’t seem to have that fruitiy or musty aspect that most Belgians have, instead its your distict Americanized bready/yeasty style of Belgian. It is fairly clean tho. Nothing to write home about, but still enjoyable for what it is. Thanks Dallas for the bottle!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, at my parents house, out of a wine glass. Pours crystal-clear honey-gold; thick, persistent white head, lovely lacing. Certainly looks like a Duvel-clone er... totally original Belgian Strong Ale. Nose is very apple-scented, and a nice, rich, all around apple cider character, plus light soapiness, a hint of overripe banana, and some very trace spiciness, which might once have been hops. Flavours are surprisingly dry, and a bit nippy and grassy; alcohol is present, though never aggressive or out-of-place, light florals develop as the beers warms. A solid effort all-around, but somewhat forgettable.
