Aroma of candied dried fruits, citrus, pine, and grapefruit. Apricots, toffee, lemondrops, all for flavors. Sticky sweet and a slightly watery mouthfeel. Well executed double IPA.

Bottle. Clearer burnt orange hue with a white head and spiderweb lacing. Floral, pine, and citrusy hops in the aroma and devoid of too much malty sweetness. Some resin, pine and citrus hops in the flavor and nicely fresh. Medium body with a nice tingly hop burn.

Tap. Poured a hazy golden orange with an off-white head. Smell is citrus, grapefruit, earthy, spicy yeast, and heavy malt. Taste is very earthy somewhat spicy, very malt-forward with a hint of citrus and grapefruit, ending moderately bitter. Sticky mouthfeel with high carbonation. A bit too earthy and malt forward for my liking and really lacking the proper hop presence for a DIPA. Still not bad.

Bottle. Citrus and pine with a heavy malt background. Finish is dry and bitter. A solid IPA but a bit weak for a double.

Bottle. Pours a copper color with a white head. Aroma is very orangy, with floral notes, caramel and sweet malt and subtle alcohol. The flavor follows the nose orange and grapefruit, some pine and floral notes with the caramel and sweet malt. Body is medium with a dry mouth feel. Overall a solid DIPA.

should be a higher score, but I got no aroma and appearance/palate were average... dipa is a new style for me and this one is better than the few others I have tried - the others were too syrupy and sweet - this has a better balance between sweet and non bitter hops - will try again....

crackedmachine (473) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 22, 2012
Bottle. Pours transparent amber with a very light-tan, lasting head. Strong pine and citrus aroma, but not overwhelming. Flavor has solid pine hop component, less pronounced but still pleasant citrus, and a lightly sweet malt foundation, but a bit of boozy heat. Semi-dry finish. Enjoyable! I feel like a dick complaining about a beer this decent, but given the abundance of high quality beer offerings these days, a more memorable flavor from this DIPA would be a big plus.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2013 Bottle. Very slightly hazy orange pour with a small soapy white head. Nose is pine and tropical fruit hops, but I’m getting a bit of aspirin in the nose as well. Wonder if this bottle is a bit old. Moderate palate with good carbonation. Taste is an initial sharp pine and pineapple hop, but its well balanced and finishes clean. Thinking I need to try this a bit fresher.
