3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle, pours a clear golden orange with a creamy white head. Pine trees on the nose, with peaches and sweet malts to back. Flavour of piney hops, grapefruits and other more subtle tropical fruits, and earthy caramel malts - bitter dry piney hops on the finish. Quite solid though nothing distinguishable about this that makes it a standout.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Serving: 12 oz. bottle via trade. It pours a hazy, muddled orange with a thick, off white head. The nose is a huge blast of overripe tropical fruit. Lots of pineapple, guava, and starfruit. The flavor has some sticky malt sweetness up front which is quickly blasted away by all those tropical hops. A big bruiser of a IIPA. Medium to full body with softer carbonation and a long, bitter finish. Nice brew!

12 oz bottle from Odeed. Nose is big time toffee, with a hint of pine and citrus. Lightly hazed copper with a big pale beige head that laces heavily and lasts a long time. Flavor is bitterness, toffee, and a bit of pine resin.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a light copper with a one finger white head with great retention. Smells of grapefruits, pineapples, green apples, and slight kiwi all laid over a bready, malty backbone, slight cloves and banana. It tastes resiny, piney and citrusy, hops up front and all around with biscuity undertones. Itís fruity and sweet with a slight hidden sourness and acidity, wonderfully floral. Itís smooth over the tongue with carbonation being quite evident on the sides and in the finish, somewhat creamy, but not thick with some hidden acidity in the finish. Overall, a full flavored, complex and balanced beer.
This was a great to come home to on a blazing hot day after a long, tiring day of work. At 9%, itís dangerously hard to put down. Full and complex, this was a great gift and a wonderfully pleasing drink. I wish I could get my hands on more of it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Todd English Pub in Las Vegas. You can really taste the alcohol in this and it is also present in the aroma. Sunshine orange colour with a skinny film of white foam that laces the glass. Aroma is pleasant and fills the nose with citrus hop aromas. Not as hopped up as some otherís but there is a good balance and it is not too overpowerering in the mouth.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A deep and hazy copper with an creamy head. Sweet aroma of citrus, sweet fruit, caramel, and pine. Taste is pretty sweet too, with a the hops seeming, a touch boozy. Not a bad beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
The moral of this story is donít label your beer a Double IPA unless you can back it up. Hop Rising pours out a little lighter than I expected, a pale yellow with a bit of orange thrown in. The head was massive, rocky and stuck around. After the first sniff I know this beer is off the mark. A decent dose of grapefruit/citrus hops, a bit of pine and sweet bready malt. When I pop the cap on a high quality DIPA I can smell the hops right off the bat. This is just too weak. Itís too sweet for my liking and the bitterness is definitely insufficient. Far too many world class DIPAs around to bother with this.
