This is the Hop Rising IIPA which is different than Squatter’s Hop Rising Pale Ale which is no longer being produced.

Hard to believe this is a double IPA - it seems far more like a "meh" IPA. Pours golden with a medium head that sticks around. Aroma is mild resiny hops. Taste is mild resin/pine hop and malt at the beginning, but then a lasting bitterness. Not "interesting, complex, hoppy bitterness." Just bitterness. This would be a decently refreshing summer beer, but I wouldn’t pick it up if I wanted an interesting beer.

This beer was very mild in the hoppy flavor it really hit you late in the process. It poured a caramel color and left a light head typical of an ipa ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2014 12 oz can from Aspen Park Wine & Spirits. Hazy burnt orange appearance with a beige head and sticky lacing. Aroma of pine, resinous hops, light alcohol, citrus fruits and light floral notes. Similar flavor, medium raw hop bitterness balanced by mild fruity, malty sweetness. Medium plus body. Pretty solid DIPA

This is a nice subtle Double IPA. The hop character is nicely matched to wonderful maltiness. I taste a hint of caramel or butterscotch in the malt. Neither are overdone. This is a bier one could drink all night and not grow tired of. Very nice.

This is a little understated, was expecting a much bigger kick from both the hops and the ABV. That said, this is part of this beer’s charm, very smooth and drinkable for a DIPA. Lots of hop resin, almost sticky, clingy head with lots of lacing, more hop resin on the finish.

12oz Can. Pours reddish amber and frothy. Aroma is full citrus flavors: Orange, Grapefruit and a hint of wood. Taste is refreshing and lively bitter tones, alcohol content is hidden in the flavor. Great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The beer pours a golden color with a medium head. The aroma is heavy with pine and citrus like pineapple and grapefruit. Taste is more citrus with lemon and grapefruit and there is some malts on the backend. Pretty thick body.

(bottle) Pours a clear gold color with a medium white head and quite a lot of lacing. Aroma isn’t super potent and punchy, but what’s here is good, with scents of canned pineapple, light pine, grapefruit, and orange. Maybe a glimmer of mango or papaya, but it only emerges when swirling. The booze is a bit high here and mucks around with the scents quite a bit, but when it’s not interrupting my nostrils the scent is quite good. Flavor holds candied orange, grapefruit, and lingering pine on the finish. Not much complexity here in the flavor, but it’s not bad. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is appropriate. Booze is prominent in the finish. I have to bump this a bit overall as I feel the price of this beer (bought it for $9.49 a sixer) is a pretty solid value, and when matched with the overall quality of the product, this will prompt me to purchase this repeatedly.

Clear copper color with white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is piney with a touch of citrus. Citrus hits the tongue. Bitterness of the finish is not as smooth as most IIPAs.
