Great beer, especially for the price. For $8-9 for a six pack, itís every bit as good as some $10+ four packs. A regular in my fridge.

Dark gold with a grainy head and a cloudy body. Nice grassy and resiny hop aroma. Moderate bitterness for a DIPA, but a good balance.

Hop Rising exudes a kind of oddball charm thatís hard to resist. The artwork on the bottles and cans reveal a weird rustic Americana. Haze, rocky foam, and moderate carbonation in the presentation. Boy is this thing piney. Iíve never meant that quite like I do with Hop Rising. The wet bitterness of pine needles, the herbal bittersweetness from the sap, and even the woodsiness. The malt backbone is caramely and balances things out nicely. This Imperial IPA is a little strange but very drinkable. Thatís a good combo, in my mind.

Huge pine resin Aroma, with some subtle spice and citrus zest. Malts are chewy and a touch sweet, and keep the big hops balanced. Medium bitter finish, soft caramel malts, big pine resins, and fresh, green hop cones.

Can thanks to Brian! Pours clear orange, medium creamy off-white head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is caramel, pine, perfume. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, pine, orange, caramel. Medium body, creamy.

Pours a light copper color with a fluffy offwhite/tan head. Lacing lasts quite a while. Getting a sweet smell mixed with freshly cut grass. Maybe a bit of fruit, smells closer to a pale ale. First taste was surprisingly sweet. Didnít expect that from a Double IPA. Caramel malt upfront. A bit of citrus and fruit mixed in there. Every once in a while a bit of pine resin taste seems to want to sneak out, but the citrus and malt push it back. Does not seem like a double IPA. Not what I was expecting, but over all it is not too bad of a beer. Price point seems high, but unsure if that is the norm for Utah or not. Will learn soon enough.

Grapefruit citrus. Earthy hops. Not a fan of citrusy IPA beers. ---Rated via BeerBuddy for iPhone. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very nice hazy copper and bronze body with a thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, earth, resin and a very pungent and nice canned fruit smell - like peaches, pears and pineapple, all with that viscous syrup thatís all fruit juice - nice! Full-bodied; Strong and pungent resin and pineapple flavour up front with a large alcohol flavour, some hop bitterness and a light grassy flavour at the end. Aftertaste is purely sweet, resinous and showing some good alcohol notes throughout, but the discrete hop flavours are fairly muted. Overall, a nice and powerful Imperial IPA with a lot of fruit sweetness - that shows well, but a bit different than most other beers in this style. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Specís in Dallas, Texas on 01-September-2015 for US$1,78 sampled at home in Washington on 07-November-2015.

appearance: clear light amber, a beautifully frothy/creamy white head that leaves a ton of lacing. aroma: blood orange and grapefruit, graham cracker and caramel, some vanilla, then some lemongrass and pine. taste: caramel and vanilla (like a wertherís original), a bitter orange creamsicle, lemon juice, light grass. finish: slick, slightly oily, but also somehow watery, with a bit of lingering hops that are almost more aromatic than flavorful, but still feel fake and perfumy. notes: This is not a good double IPA. Palate was slick but somehow watery. Alcohol is not well-hidden. Hops provide some aromatics and some astringent heat, but not much in the way of flavor. Malt bill is unstable as well, seeming both too strong but also muddled. Just couldnít like it. 12 oz can as a souvenier from the brewpub is Salt Lake City.
