Bottle at Lincoln WIne Bar. A big beer, lots of malt sweetness, some fruit, a good dose of hops. Straightforward, good beer.

GBBF Day 1. Bottle share. Lightly hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and smooth with mild fine carbonation. Sweetish malts, little caramel. Sweetish marmalade and dried fruit hops. Nice touch of lime marmalade as well! Light finish. Nice.

Bottle from GBBF 2014 and drunk at home. Clear amber lasting cream head. Hop resiny aroma. Some toffee biscuit sweetness in the mouth. Very smooth in the mouth. Quite hoppy but not over the top. No real burn on the finish. The ABV is hidden well. If I made a DIPA this is how I would want it to turn out, balanced and hoppy but not super hoppy, good biscuit and sweetness in the mouth and good bitterness on the finish. Good

12 oz can (excellent) picked up in a variety sixer. Pours hazy orange with a white head and good lacing. Started off okay, but now that it’s warmed up a bit the flaws begin to show. What started off as a nice, fruity bouquet of mango and tropical fruits has now given way to unmistakeable squashy pumpkin. Yeast death. Gives off a harsh bitter finish in the end. Not over the top and not undrinkable, but a bit flawed for sure. Still a good looking beer and a good looking package.

12oz can. Pours amber orange, white head. Aroma’s hop-ish, taste is sweet malt. Decently executed, not special, not one of the pieces of malt crap.

Sampled @ GBBF. Bottle shared. Clear golden to light orange color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste malts, very hoppy, fruit hops, soft to average bitterness, some tropical fruitiness. Medium body and carbonation.

This is a delicious double IPA. Large amounts of hops make this a strong IPA which is what a double IPA should be.

How things change so fast. Got this today in the CAN! since it has been some time seeing these on the shelf and did not have one of these tan drab cans in my collection. I had tried this once before and knew that I liked it from the colorfully labled bottle back in September 2011. Checked my notes on my personal database and yes I did give this brew good marks back then and have that bottle sitting high up on my display of beers. Sadly the CANS did not live up to the high alpha acids of a double IPA and yes there was the metalic taste and aroma. Still good brew with the nice pine, citrus, hop flavor, but nowhere as good as back in 2011 from the six pack of 12 ounce bottles. From previous info would have givin this high marks but yet another case of loss due to getting it in the CAN!

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2014 Pours an orangey/amber color. Aroma is pine/resin hops with a little malt. Taste is mostly pine hops. Goes down smooth and you really can’t taste the alcohol. Pretty good IIPA.
