Like your favorite hammock, this IPA is perfectly relaxed and balanced. The smoothness of premium barley lies in equilibrium with the hoppiness of a classic American IPA. Kick back and reward yourself with this multiple award-winner.

(12 oz bottle: BevMo in La Jolla, CA) I must admit, when this beer showed up on a pallet at the store along with two other "low alcohol" brews from Utah, I figured this beer would be another watery, thin turd. But this is actually real beer! Fruity and very citrusy nose leads the charge -- lots of sweet tangerine and tart grapefruit -- with modest aroma of tea and composted grass in the background, turning progressively more vegetal over time. The flavor is less citrusy, even on the first sip, instead presenting a drier, more grainy and vegetal flavor. As with the nose, the vegetal nature of the flavor increases in prominence, quickly becoming the dominant flavor, though the hoppy, citrusy bitterness remains on the tongue, especially in the more balanced finish. I find this transition isn’t at all uncommon with West Coast IPAs, so this Utah beer is following a very familiar pattern for me. Body is medium, so definitely not thin or watery like I was expecting. Carbonation is moderate. Golden-amber color shows a moderate haze and about a dozen streams of small, widely spaced carbonation bubbles. Not a whole lot of head to this beer, the off-white foam rising to no more than a quarter inch before rapidly receding to a filmy layer. Randomly shaped splotches of lace are scattered around the glass. I must say, quite a nice surprise. I’ve definitely had better IPAs, but I’ve enjoyed this a lot.

(12oz bottle, thanks Bück Dich) Medium off-white head atop a clear light amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, floral, peach, caramel, some grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, floral, peach, some orange/grapefruit, earthy, caramel. Fairly mild bitterness. Light-medium body.

Pours a five finger frothy white head that fades quickly leaving some lace. Clear amber color. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Hoppy nose. Starts hoppy with some sweetness, almost balanced midway finishes hoppy with a little bitter after taste. Not as hoppy as some IPAs. $1.50 for a 12oz bottle from Utah DABC Salt Lake City, Ut.

winegarner (220) - san diego, California, USA - AUG 9, 2006
Poured a clear gold with a light and somewhat lasting off-white head. A very herbal and citrusy hop aroma and flavor slightly off balances the smooth, rich malt character. A prolonged hop flavor lingers in the mouth. Not the best ipa but one that I could enjoy drinking more than one of.

Bottle from the state store. Bright translucent amber color. Nose is fairly hoppy, nice citrus hop edge. Flavor is more of the same...with a nice malt complement. Better than expected...a nice drink.

12 oz. bottle, from a six-pack split with DarkElf. Pours a pretty light to medium amber color, mostly clear with a fluffy white head and nice lacing. Milder than expected aroma, predominantly citrus hops with a bit of toastiness and dust. Toasty malts, bold citrus hops with a bit of pine as well, faint touch of spice and a lingering citric acidity in the finish. Lifht to medium body, gentle carbonation. Not bad for a beer from Utah!

Draft. Amber beer with a nice off-white head. Grapefruit and orange aroma with a bit of pine. Citrus flavor with pine. Some malt sweetness, but a little lighter in body. Lingering piney, light grapefruit bitterness. Very drinkable.

Great burst of pine aroma. With citrus. Light golden color with decent, persistent white head. Starts with pine, followed by citrus, settling on grapefruit. This is really finishing with a refreshing hoppiness. It is the closest non-bottle conditioned IPA to Bridgeport. Bridgeport is fresher, but this has a great lasting hop finish. It does not quit. Carbonation is either light or effaced by the wonderful flavors.

12oz bottle via trade with Bück Dich - Thanks Jordan! - Pours golden slightly cloudy with a fair white creamy head that stayed pretty well. Aromas of light grassy and floral hops over light pale malts. Flavor is light pale malts and grains blended pretty well with grassy and floral hops. Just a touch of peach flavor in there as well. Palate is light and lowly carbonated. Crisp and clean though. Really not a bad IPA at all!
