3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Quite suprised at this offering from the Mormon State. Seen this at my local BevMo and thought itíd be nice to try. Got it home, popped it open and the aroma wasnít half bad! A nice piney/citrusy aroma hit me and it was good enough to make me take notice. Mouthfeel is soft and clean. Flavors are bright with notes of piney hops and sweet malts with a suprisingly good balance between the two. Unfortunately, it might get a bit lost amongst all the West Coast/PNW hoppy IPAís but this is definitely worth taking a look at.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: NOV 1, 2006 Pours golden with medium lasting head. Hoppy aroma consists of pine and an earthiness. Flavor is dry, malt, pine. Round mouthfeel, good body. Smooth bitterness fades to a clean finish. Very easy drinking. A bit mild though. Might fit in better as a pale ale.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz. bottle. Faded yellow color with a small rocky white head. Lemongrass and a soft orangey citrus hop character in the aroma. Citric metallic hop character dominates the flavor, with buttery tinges. Some malt emerges in the finish, and a slightly sweet softness to the residual hop bitterness and astringency also contained therein. Mouthfeel is a light medium, somewhat dry.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from the beer god that is DarkElf... thanks Stephen!!! Pours a clear orange/gold color with virtually no head or lacing. Aroma is very sweet, almost sticky/fruity like and a very mild hope presence comes through. Flavor is very light with grassy, bitter hop hints through-out. Definite citrus towards the end. Very light on the palate and overall a fairly enjoyable beer considering itís straight from beer wasteland!!! Thanks again Stephen!!!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(12 oz bottle: BevMo in La Jolla, CA) I must admit, when this beer showed up on a pallet at the store along with two other "low alcohol" brews from Utah, I figured this beer would be another watery, thin turd. But this is actually real beer! Fruity and very citrusy nose leads the charge -- lots of sweet tangerine and tart grapefruit -- with modest aroma of tea and composted grass in the background, turning progressively more vegetal over time. The flavor is less citrusy, even on the first sip, instead presenting a drier, more grainy and vegetal flavor. As with the nose, the vegetal nature of the flavor increases in prominence, quickly becoming the dominant flavor, though the hoppy, citrusy bitterness remains on the tongue, especially in the more balanced finish. I find this transition isnít at all uncommon with West Coast IPAs, so this Utah beer is following a very familiar pattern for me. Body is medium, so definitely not thin or watery like I was expecting. Carbonation is moderate. Golden-amber color shows a moderate haze and about a dozen streams of small, widely spaced carbonation bubbles. Not a whole lot of head to this beer, the off-white foam rising to no more than a quarter inch before rapidly receding to a filmy layer. Randomly shaped splotches of lace are scattered around the glass. I must say, quite a nice surprise. Iíve definitely had better IPAs, but Iíve enjoyed this a lot.
