Bottle-pours clear bright orange with a small soapy white head around the rim of the glass. some lite carbonation in the middle of the glass. nose is mostly triopical and medicinal to a point. fairly straight forward here. big citrus and lite pine. nothing much else to say about the nose. flavors are mostly citric as well hwoever, has a very nice malt base, mostly toasted pale malts here. very well balanced and easy to drink ipa here. I would like to have this fresh on tap sometime.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 DavoleBomb (1444) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 29, 2012
I have no idea if this is the right listing, but I think it might be. The thing throwing me off is that it’s listed as "retired." On the label this says "India Pale Ale" with "IPA" below that and "Brewers Reserve" below that. 6.5% ABV. Poured into a pint glass. "Born" on 5/16/12.
4.0 A: Clear light orange color. Two fingers of frothy/creamy white head. Retention is good and plenty of lacing is left.
3.0 S: Light herbal and flowery hop aroma. Light clean neutral maltiness. A bit grainy. Not much going on.
2.5 T: Like the nose, but perhaps even more boring. Light herbal hoppiness. Light grainy neutral maltiness. Low bitterness.
3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Crisp and clean, but not really creamy at all. Still, good here.
2.5 D: Really boring beer.

Bottle. Fizzy white head on a light clear copper orange. Some nice citrusy hop aromas, biscuity aspects as well, and lightly sweetness. Decently ploy and certainly leans English with a more subdued citrus and fruity profile. Hops still are there, and fairly solid. Drier finish and a slick body with bubbly carbonation.

[Bottle] Pours a clear bright gold with a smallish but lasting white head. The aroma is sweet, light caramalts, juicy grapefruit pulp, and really not much else, but it is a nicely balanced, pleasant aroma. The flavor again is nicely balanced with a nice malty backbone. The malt character is just barely touching on the metallic side, but not in a bad way. The mouthfeel is medium, the carbonation soft, and the finish fairly long, with a light but sharp bitterness. I enjoyed this one - would buy again.

A surprisingly good ipa. Light orange color and well carbonated. Dry hops aroma, but flavor has some bread, dry malt, and herbal, grassy hops. Lightly sweet finish.

Hazy copper with an average white head and lots of lacing. Aroma of caramel, bread, citrus, and apricot. Taste is malty and a little sweet with a mild bitterness. Definitely following the English style. Medium bodied. Ok.

Originally reviewed: 2/18/09. Pours a hazy deep gold with a good sized 2-finger white head on it. Excellent retention and sticky lacing. Slight chill haze throughout. Smells pretty standard for an IPA. Some citrus and just a touch of pine. A little metal in there as well.
Mouthfeels is a tad thin for my liking, but not a complete turnoff. Goes down easily enough. Taste is slightly bitter with some piney resin. Sort of bready taste as well. Right off the bat there is a strong metallic presence, but this dissipates as I continue to drink. Maybe I just got used to it?
Not a bad IPA.

Bottle. Clear orange-gold pour with a smaller white head. Nose and taste is fruity - grapefruit and apricot. Some floral elements in the aroma as well. Sharp hop bite late, but balanced. Delicious.
