COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A medium bodied American brown ale, with light hop aroma, deep rich color and nutty finish.
Brewed to celebrate our first Christmas in 1989. ""NBA"" is a medium bodied American brown ale, with a light hop aroma, deep rich color and nutty finish. In the U.K. brown ale is generally a bottled product, although some cask-conditioned versions may be found. There are three main types of brown ales: English northern, English southern and American brown ale. Squatters NBA represents the American brown ale style. This style if typically reddish-brown in color, moderately bitter, and the aroma is derived from American hops. Additionally, a nutty, malty caramel sweetness is present. Although maltiness is the dominant flavor and contributes some sweetness, a medium level of bitterness is there to create balance. Pete’s Wicked Ale is one of the most well known examples of this style. Before the development of porter, brown ale or a wild ale were combined with a stale beer (waste was not a consideration) and a pale ale and called ""threeheads"". This beer was consumed mainly by the working class.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2013 On cask at the downtown pub. Toasty, light roasted aroma and flavor, and some biscuit-y malt flavor. (11/2012) From a growler: Similar to above; also getting some caramel sweetness, and a nutty aftertaste. (1/2013)

Cask @ Brewpub: Nutty and smokey, nice malt and caramel; a bit dry but very full bodied. Dark brown color, no head or lacing. Malty flavor, clean finish. Very nice nut brown with a very malty finish and a light chocolate hint in the tail.

Draft @ the brewpub in SLC
Appearance: Dark brown with a tan head and some lace left in the glass.
Aroma: Roasted malt with citrus hops coming through
Taste: A very pleasant first sip. A well balanced beer with hops and malt about equal
I am not much for Brown Ales, but this is a really good beer. Maybe because it has more hops coming through than most brown ales I’ve had.

Draft Brewpub SLC-Pours a reddish brown with a nice off white head for a covering. Aroma of roasted malt and nut. Flavor was the same with a little hops thrown in. This medium bodied beer was a bit weak but still very tasty.

On tap at Squatters. Pours a dark brown with hints of amber, color with a thick beige head. The aroma is very hoppy, lots of sweet hop notes, some roasted nuts and malt and a bit of caramel. The taste was also quite nice, again the hops really stood out, some nice strong toasted malts and roasted nuts, also a hint of caramel. Very nice.

Poured on nitro tap @ Squatter’s Brewpub in SLC. It has a clear copper to brown body and thin white foam head. Wow, it has an inviting rich roasty to nutty aroma that makes it hard not to take a quick swig. The taste is nutty and mildly roasty to start. It stays that way from front to back making me briefly re-think the quality of my taste buds. OK, I also get faint caramel and a brief hint of buttered bread. Very tasty Brown.
