Welcome to the biggest beer Squatters Pub Brewery has ever made! A Russian Imperial Stout is one of the most intensely flavored beers a brewer can create. The combination of rich roasted barley, oak, molasses and licorice root combine to create an utterly unique and complex imperial stout experience. We had to mash in twice to get our starting gravity of 27 plato (1.108 specific gravity). We boiled 3.5 hrs to enhance caramelization and used molasses and licorice root at the end of boil. Outer Darkness is aged with oak, has 65 ibu’s and bottle conditioned. We hope you have as much fun drinking it as we did making it. Please share with another and drink wisely.

Black pour with beautiful thick head. Starts smooth and sweet with strong caramel, coffee and chocolate aromas, and a bitter finish and aftertaste. More carbonated than I expected. Thick body. Excellent beer!

Bottle from trade with StFun, cheers buddy! Not sure how old, but it was from a cellar cleaning so several years I guess. Black with a brown head. Aroma: honey, roasted, milk chocolate, licorice, wine gums. Taste: cocoa, roasted, salty licorice, milk chocolate, wine gums. Full-bodied. Tasty with round flavors from the aging I would guess.

Bottle - Molasses, liquorice and soy sauce. Inky black with a small light brown head. Tons of liquorice and booze. As much as I am not a liquorice fan, this works.

At first I thought this was aged in a scotch girl. Turns out the licorice, molasses, and O'Farrell get the same effect. Really great taste, could use a touch more pallet. The nose is a little soft. Been very good beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a very dark brown almost black with tan colored head. A lot of roast on the nose, some raw cocoa as well and just a hint of wood, oak; follows onto the palate. Finishes with more roast and warmth.
