Welcome to the biggest beer Squatters Pub Brewery has ever made! A Russian Imperial Stout is one of the most intensely flavored beers a brewer can create. The combination of rich roasted barley, oak, molasses and licorice root combine to create an utterly unique and complex imperial stout experience. We had to mash in twice to get our starting gravity of 27 plato (1.108 specific gravity). We boiled 3.5 hrs to enhance caramelization and used molasses and licorice root at the end of boil. Outer Darkness is aged with oak, has 65 ibus and bottle conditioned. We hope you have as much fun drinking it as we did making it. Please share with another and drink wisely.

Black pour with beautiful thick head. Starts smooth and sweet with strong caramel, coffee and chocolate aromas, and a bitter finish and aftertaste. More carbonated than I expected. Thick body. Excellent beer!

Bottle. This is a really smooth and burly imperial stout. Big roasted malts and lots of hop bitterness to balance the sweetness. Well done.

Bomber into a tulip. Pours black, with a moderate brown head that quickly fades. Nose is anise and cocoa. Taste is huge- dark roast malt with coffee and anise notes. Oily mouth feel with a long, long finish. Very nice.

Dark and bold, this imperial stout is solid. Its roast and a little sweet with an undertone of anise that I absolutely adore. A little heavy mouth feel than what my standard preference is, but not too much. Pours with a nice creamy tan head. My beer of choice to cart out for new to Utah folks

Bottle share (I brought this that I won from StefanSD during FBW). Pours black, thick, with a foamy tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, black licorice, caramel, and vanilla. Flavor follows the nose with black licorice, chocolate, slight smoked wood, roasted malts, caramel, and vanilla. Full bodied, thick texture, soft carbonation, smooth finish.

750 ml foiled bottle from StefanSD for free beer week. Aroma is tobacco, licorice, vanilla, light roast. Pours black with a large tan head with great retention and lace. Seems pretty average for an impy, but its definitely tasty.

750 mL bottle, best before 2 March 2016. Plack, with a big, foamy, brown head. The nose is caramelized sugar, black coffee, bitter chocolate, and a bit of smoke. Sweet up front, with a strong bitterness. Heavy body, syrupy, sticky, and clingy. This is a big, cloying, malt bomb, but the bitterness balances out pretty well.

The more imperial stouts you have, the more you start getting particular. And well you should because there are to many imperial stouts that get a free pass just because theyre big and rich. But this one works for me. Big time. Not too hoppy, not too hot, not too roasted, not too sweet (but sweet enough for me). Just great. (On tap at the Groveland Tap).

750 ml bottle. Pours dark brown black with a big creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet grainy roast chocolate malt with some dark fruit and black licorice.

The flavor is sweet lactic chocolate malt with heavy roast and some dark fruit and black licorice and then a bitter heavy roast finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a decent imperial stout. A little too sweet and roasty for me.
