3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Hazy golden color with small head. The aroma is mildly fruity, mellow; nice. The malt profile is poor, there are light colored caramel notes, but that’s not enough; decent level of bitterness, like a Pale Ale, a bit of hop resins, but not at all the hop qualities expected from a Double IPA.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
341mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out caramel biscuity malt and very mild resinous hops -- more malty than hoppy but not too sweet. Flavour is not overly hoppy, with toffee, biscuity malt and lightly astringency floral hops. Not a good hop blend. Weird stuff -- seems very confused. Finishes malty and sweet, but not cloying. A jumbled mess. Not bad, but it’s a bad recipe.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
341ml bottle. Clear orange with a frothy off-white head. Flavors are caramel, sugar, apricot, citrus, pine resin, soap and alcohol with floral and spicy notes. Cloying sweetness, harsh and astringent finish, hardly drinkable. Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, oily sticky texture.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
341ml bottle. Clear golden body, medium fluffy white head with good retention. Some sediments at the bottom. Aroma is fruity and sweet: orange candies, caramel, butter, peaches and some pine. Taste is clean and crisp: good amount of malts, orange candies, grapefruit zest, a touch of pine. Overall a good and pleasant IPA.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear golden with a medium white head that leaves spotty lacing. Nose is fruity hops, garbage and butter. Overall cohesive but a bit awkward. Amateur-ish. Taste is of caramel, fruity hops and moderately bitter. Light alcohol. Body is medium and carbonation high while mouthfeel is sticky. Overall this wasn’t exciting or well-executed at all, just OK.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle from Cool Wine 050215. This is a beer that needs to be treated with respect or it will bite you hard. Big in the nose and in the mouth with an sunset orange colour and a layer of even white foam that stays for a while. A beer to be enjoyed over time.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Wow! Hoppy aroma,(heavey), pine resin, grapefruit, fade to lemon. Massive almost white head that lasts quite long. Lacing exstrordinaire. Clear, light amber body. Sweet, but with an explosion of grapefruit and kumquats that fades to rind and spices(long). Light to medium, dry texture with a lively carbonation. Pretty good! Cheers!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
341ml bottle I let sit on the counter for 15 minutes after taking it out the fridge to allow it to reach 10 degrees. I served the brew in a snifter as always.
Pours a slightly hazy pale copper robe with moderate carbs. The generous eggshell head is midway between fluffy and creamy. Retention is pretty good and I did get some nice lacing a short while after pouring.
The nose is pretty intense with the Chinook and Cascade hops delivering strong floral and citrus punches. Malts come to the rescue to balance out the nose with a sweet caramel backbone.
In the mouth, the brew explodes with a strong hoppy attack one might find aggressive, but again the malt softens the sharp flowery edges by adding sweetness and balance out the bitterness to an enjoyable level. Mouthfeel is dense and silky, adding a nice dimension to the tasting. The beer finishes cloudy and dry with the floral hops just hanging out quite a while on the back of the palate.
Overall this nectar is excessive, floral, sweet and pretty damn good. Nice work pairing the hops and malts without losing balance as could have occured with a brew of such gravity. Cheers!
