Clear, dark amber pour with an average tan head that dissipates rather quickly to leave a thin ring of lace. Interesting nose full of maple syrup and caramel, but not much else. There is something distinctly beerish about the nose but it’s buried under heavy layers of sweet impressions. I prepared my palate for sugar rush but this stuff is a lot more tempered in sweetness than the nose suggests. It’s still sweet and getting through a full serving might be a little challenging. There’s certainly a lot of maple in the mouth but you can still tell you’re drinking beer and not just thinned out maple syrup. Decent enough but I doubt I’ll go back for a second bottle.

341ml bottle pours amber in color with a finger and a half of off-white head that leaves no lacing behind. Aroma is of maple and caramel. Taste is maple syrup sweetness with a herbal and grassy hop bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A nicely done brew.

Had this on tap at Barque Smokehouse. Really surprised. Maple aroma and taste are strong but not overpowering. Beer still tastes like beer, unlike other maple beers that taste like maple syrup.

The first bottle is hard to understand. You bought it knowing it featured maple but you are still wondering if you want maple as you drink the glass. Aroma is maple-like. Flavour is a full bodied Amber with prominent maple. Once you get used to it the beer is as comfortable as any slightly above average Amber.

341 ml bottle bought at Les Marchands de Bières in Sainte-Thérèse (Quebec) on March 6, 2014. Dark orange, thin head. Sweet aroma of maple with a little barley. Taste a bit the same, but with notes of sour fruit, slightly bitter herbs. Not that bad, more of a novelty drinkable beer!

Deep ruby pour, small off white head. Aroma of very sweet maple candies with some vanilla thrown in. Solid carb, good mouth feel. Finish is low on bittneress, with some deep sweetness. The maple is a little over powering, the sweetness is cloying. Not sure i can finish the bottle.

Draft: Poured an amber color ale with a small foamy head with light retention and no lacing. Aroma consists of woody notes with maple notes with light dry caramel notes. Taste is also a very nice mix of dry caramel malt with some woody notes and some clear maple notes. Body is light with medium carbonation. I am usually not a fan of maple beer but I must admit that this one is quite good.

341 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep copper with a large light tan head. Aroma: Sickly sweet, light maple/smoke character, bubble gum esters, typical St-Ambroise yeast character, somewhat metallic, buttery caramel, messy. Palate: Medium body, slightly slick, moderate carbonation. Flav.: Lots of buttery maple/brown sugar with faint smoke, light drinking a pancake, not great; dry with more maple and butter and a brown sugar finish.

Breakfast in a bottle...not very good.
