It has the same problems as a lot of maple flavoured ales, it tastes too artificial. I had a hard time finishing it. I would use it to cook but that is about it. One, if not the worst beer of st-ambroise.

Very subtle sweetness in this beer that is well blended with the malt to avoid the sickly sweetness found in too many fruit or flavoured beers. The maple can definitely be tasted but it is pleasant and not overpowering.

Bottle. Bright copper amber body, average white head. Sweet genuine maple aroma and flavour, but thankfully they held back on sweetness in the malt profile. Don’t get me wrong, this is a sweet beer alright, just not unbearably sweet for me, and it helps that I happen to love maple syrup. It also helps that there is an acidity on the palate that keeps this from becoming a syrupy mess IMO.

Easily one of the better maple beers that I have tried, the most maple-esque as well. It essentially is Maple Syrup Ale, looking like a Dark #2 Maple Syrup with a thin beige head. This maple muncher smells very strong of its namesake but also very authentic, mixed with caramel and leather smells. As mentioned it has a remarkably genuine maple taste that is borderline too sweet but is balanced at the eleventh hour by some earth herbal hop bitterness. A light nuttiness and brown bread taste are also present. Mid-soft carbonation with a light oiliness that sticks to the mouth, a bittersweet finish.

Draft - Sweet syrup and pale malts. Deep brown and clear with a decent beige head. Sweet syrup and not much else. Too sweet.

341 ml bottle. Pours a clear reddish dark amber with a resilient beige head. Aroma is loads of maple, toasty. Flavor is maple, roast, caramel, brown sugar. Finish is a good bit of herbal hops. Finish is a well-balanced touch of honey, maple and herbs. Light body, average carbonation. Super simple ale, but it really tastes like maple, which feels good.

2013-02-22 - tasting hosted by blankboy, with gregclow, jercraigs and mabel - 341ml bottle c/o gregclow? Refractive copper-amber with a smallish foamy off-white head - 4/5 because that’s a nice copper colour. Whoa - sweet aroma, biscuit and harshness (6-) ... nope, don’t like it. Taste ... eek ... tastes like maple candy, my teeth melted on contact, not much beer character, obnoxiously sweet [at this point my voice memo - from 16 months ago - devolved into the the "then me" ranting at the future me (now me) and refusing to give a number for taste]
