COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Behind its magnificent ruby-red colour, St. Ambroise Raspberry Ale reveals its refreshing charm from the moment you encounter its bouquet and flavour. Made with fresh raspberries and choice sun-ripened hops, it gently engages your tastebuds in a delicious explosion of flavours. Its delicate fruit aromas marry perfectly with the pleasant hop character typical of all St-Ambroise ales. Brewed in Quebec, just once a year, it's a unique summertime treat.

Held up to the light it’s a deep red, with a tall frothy head. Aroma is strong but pleasant raspberry. Smooth feel with a tart berry finish. The best fruit beer I’ve had to date.

Bottle. Nice brown/ruby body topped with a lasting beige foamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with enjoyable raspberry notes. Taste is well balanced but lacks complexity. It ends with a decent sour finish. This is a quite honest fruit beer.

Roli (405) - laval, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 13, 2006
Big brown head, brown/red color. Strong raspberry aroma. Wheaty at the beginning, then heavy raspberry taste comes in that feels like syrup. Too sweet. Medium body. And well, the raspberry is there for the finish too.

tiggmtl (4548) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 18, 2006
Strong, jammy, raspberry aroma with some grain character notable but a mildly soapy note is distracting. Clear, amber brown coloured body is topped by a decent, fine bubbled, pink tinged white head that lasts nicely. Toasted malts are balanced nicely with lightly tart raspberries in the flavour with a lingering sweetness in the aftertaste. Medium body with moderate, fine bubbled carbonation that invigorates the tastebuds. Mondial 2006.

rederic (3063) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 13, 2006
Hazy brown-reddish hue, with a frothy beige head, wheaty fruity nose of wild sour raspberries, with a tartness note, and sweet malty aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a tart acidic fruit raspberry character, hint of wineyness, and a sort of iodine too, with a raspberry seeds sourness, leading towards a fruit raspberry tartness finish.

Pours a clear ruby color with a medium but diminishing pink bubbly head. Aroma of tart raspberries and mild sweetness. The flavor is like the aroma, tart rapsberries and sweetness, the malt is also present. The body is light and liquorous and the carbonation is medium. It’s not bad but gets kind of boring after a while.

2 bottles shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc, mds & tupalev -- courtesy of myself & tupalev. Pours a slightly hazy dark ruby-pink with an average size light-pink head. Aroma of slightly tart raspberries, malt and yeast. Flavour of sweet raspberry syrup, yeast and malt with a light bitter finish. Medium bodied. Just good, not great, St. Ambroise is capable of better (especially at that ridiculous high cost per bottle!).

Hazy dark reddish to purple ale, with an extra thick lacing pinkish head. Fresh raspberry aroma, with seeds, very pleasant. In mouth, a dry crisp malt with puckering fruits, rather refreshing, and not artificial, but this puppy loses points for being way too expansive! 5.39% a bottle, come on! I was expecting freaking Boon Framboise here.

Bottled. Perhaps the dryest raspberry beer I’ve ever tasted, with a hint of hops in the finish. Nothing artificial here, but the distinct flavour of dark, seedy fruit -- it’s almost like you’re drinking the seeds. The proportions are a bit tentative and it smells a little funky, but the thin, smooth body combines nicely with the slightly tart fruitiness.

Two bottles shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry, jerc, tupalev & mds - courtesy of blankboy & tupalev. Deep ruby-pink colour with a small, light pink head. Aroma of fresh raspberry and malt. Flavour of tart berries and sweet malt, striking a nice fruit vs. beer balance. it’s OK, but I tried the original version of this when it was a seasonal beer several years ago, and I recall it being better.
