COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ales were brewed in the 19th century with long sea travel in clipper ships across the equator to India in mind. In order to endure these rigours, the beers were high in alcohol and brewed with plenty of hops. The hops provided a spicy bitterness balancing the malt and maintaining the quality of the ale through the natural antibacterial properties of hops. McAuslan has brewed a classic IPA using a blend of pale and specialty malts giving the beer a New World Twist.

Poured from a tap. Clear golden color, medium white head. Mild grain and citrus aroma. Medium body with a sweet flavor and a mild finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Wonderful aroma of a citrus, great looking beer, caramel color, nice head. Extremely bitter taste with an oily bitter palate.

[Draught at Pub D’Orsay, Quebec City] Pours a nice deep orange with an average size diminishing frothy white head. Some lacing. Aroma of slightly resiny hops, tropical fruit and bready malt in the back. Flavour has a decent amount of hops, tropical fruit, bready malt and a long moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good IPA, better then I expected, I’d drink it again.

Reddish pour from draft at bevo in old Montreal. Carmel and malty IPA again. Seems to be the IPA flavor of Montreal. Just ok. More like a hoppy red

Bottle. This is a standard IPA, but never lets you down in any way. It has aroma of pine, herbs, and resins. Has a good malty caramel body too, so its not just strong hop water. Taste of pine, spices, and molasses. Has quite a hop kick to it and a good dose of bitterness in the aftertaste. Tis a good IPA.

Dark gold colour with a minimal white head. Ara of tropical fruit and candy. Taste has a sweet followup with mango-orange type flavours. Body is average. Seems like another run of the mill ipa

473ml can. Pours a crystal clear, light copper with a one finger, off white head that leaves nice rings of lacing. Aroma is mildly hoppy. Slightly spicy with hints of pine, and fruit. Taste is a balanced bitter. Mild notes of pine and fruit with a drawn out, slightly metallic, finish. Medium body and carbonation. Clean texture with a slight amount of resin. Overall not bad. Wouldn’t be my first choice but better than a lot.

Pours a dark amber with a medium white head. Light lacing.Aromas of citrus hops with light grassiness in the background. Finally some distinct honey. On the palate there is a very nice blend of hops and bready malts. Some flowery tones up front. Some citrus on the swallow.A very nice, slightly atypical IPA.
