COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ales were brewed in the 19th century with long sea travel in clipper ships across the equator to India in mind. In order to endure these rigours, the beers were high in alcohol and brewed with plenty of hops. The hops provided a spicy bitterness balancing the malt and maintaining the quality of the ale through the natural antibacterial properties of hops. McAuslan has brewed a classic IPA using a blend of pale and specialty malts giving the beer a New World Twist.

Belle apparence dorée. Arômes de malt et de houblons bien équilibrés. Amertume bien présente après une entrée bien développée de malts pale et caramels. Très bonne bière!

Three things. First, the review below mine confuses me. If you don’t understand and/or like a certain style of beer because it demonstrates traits of the style then why bother? Second, bought this at the beer store in toronto & let’s face it, the LCBO isn’t the problem in this province, its the lameness of capitalism known as the beer store. Sure the LCBO has its problems, but at least their shelving practices are fairer than the beer store (plus I prefer $ going to education & healthcare instead of an international macro beer corporation). Thirdly, this label shouldn’t be green (hops) it should be brown (malts). This IPA -- while an ok sipper -- is nothing more than a middle of the road central Canada IPA. It’s a malt bomb.

Bottles purchased at Beer Boutique in the Distillery District. Sharp citrus aroma. Crisp head on amber body. Taste sharp and bitter, fairly challenging. I have problems with the bitterness of this beer style and this was for me a problematic beer.

2014/07/21 - Pours a clear, burnt orange colour, with a medium, soapy, off white head that dissipates quickly and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is caramel, honey, tropical fruits, citrus, floral hops, cereal and mild pine. Taste is caramel, honey, biscuit, mild pine and citrus/tropical fruits. Mouthfeel is medium and slick with average carbonation and a mildly bitter/mildly sweet finish. Slightly drying. Not terrible, but nothing special. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Wonderful aroma of a citrus, great looking beer, caramel color, nice head. Extremely bitter taste with an oily bitter palate.

[Draught at Pub D’Orsay, Quebec City] Pours a nice deep orange with an average size diminishing frothy white head. Some lacing. Aroma of slightly resiny hops, tropical fruit and bready malt in the back. Flavour has a decent amount of hops, tropical fruit, bready malt and a long moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good IPA, better then I expected, I’d drink it again.

Reddish pour from draft at bevo in old Montreal. Carmel and malty IPA again. Seems to be the IPA flavor of Montreal. Just ok. More like a hoppy red

Bottle. This is a standard IPA, but never lets you down in any way. It has aroma of pine, herbs, and resins. Has a good malty caramel body too, so its not just strong hop water. Taste of pine, spices, and molasses. Has quite a hop kick to it and a good dose of bitterness in the aftertaste. Tis a good IPA.

Dark gold colour with a minimal white head. Ara of tropical fruit and candy. Taste has a sweet followup with mango-orange type flavours. Body is average. Seems like another run of the mill ipa
