Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Bottle from Wine & Cheese Place in (near) St. Louis, MO. Opaque black color with a humongous multi-finger dark tan head. Smells of toasted/burnt malt, vanilla & coffee. Could be very light smoke. Essentially medium body with mild, smooth carbonation. Flavor is toasted/burnt malt with some strong coffee. There is a really light touch of smoke. Finish is pretty balanced - neither sweet nor bitter. Good stout.

Black colored with big beige head. Extremely rich aroma with vanilla, roastiness, coffee, fine smoke, excellent aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is rather roasted and caramelly with coffee still here, aftertaste turns to berry one.

Pours a nice dark brown/Black color small tan head. Great aromas of Malts, chocolate, coffee, vanilla.and caramel. Nice, malty caskish like flavor. Body is a bit watery though. Nicely carbonated though.Nice bitter finish. Thanks Brewblackhole!

341 ml bottle. Dark brown almost black body with a thin beige head. Aroma is bitter chocolate at liquorices. Flavor is malty, liquorices, bitter coffee, chocolate and a bit fruity. Yes, this is good, but it didn’t really hit me with a very high score. Don’t actually now why, maybe I need to sample this again?

Pours near black with a large foamy tan froth. Sweet oatmeal aroma with some notes of dry coffee, dark chocolate and burnt molasses. Weak palate, watery body with soft but larger carbonation bubbles. The sweet smooth oatmeal plays interestingly off the coffee, if you want to know what this tastes like... take a bite of oatmeal then wash it down with black burnt coffee... maybe with one sugar in it. Easy drinking for a stout.

Beautiful. Intense. Intimidating. This lovely quebecois stout pours an inky black; dark as night, and is topped by an enormous, delicious looking, oatmeal colored frothy brown head. The aromas here are intertwined and complex- rich, dark cacao nibs with lightly roasted French coffee, oatmeal cookies, cream, delicate dark berries, and tiramisu. Creamy, luscious, oily, and velvety smooth on the palate, this beer first hits the tongue with notes of french roast java and dark, heavily toasted/burnt caramelly malt. Further sips bring hints of luscious single-origin dark chocolate- bittersweet and complex, balanced by the fruity and tangy dryness of the hops. This stout is medium-bodied, not overpoweringly rich or alcoholic, and has a delicate drinkability that makes this an ideal beer for chocolate pairings or even session drinking and conversations with friends. It is warming yet bitter, crisp and fruity. The tastes are so seemlessly blended and, though the burnt, dark chocolate basically defines the beer, the stringent, bittering, and appetizingly drying hops make a very important contribution in the finish and keep this stout balanced, lively and complex, with a soft and harmonious character that keeps giving. A very well-crafted beer.

Pours an oily black colour with a sturdy medium head. The nose is full nuances of berries with notes of sweet oats, ethyl lactate, cocoa and espresso. The flavour is robust, sweet and roasty, with rich chocolate and berries up front and roasted coffee and bitter hops in the finish. It is balanced, full-flavoured and full-bodied. The finish is long and the mouthfeel is creamy with perfectly matched carbonation. This stout coats tooth and gum. Delicious.
