Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Bottle. Pours a deep black, with a slight dark beige head. Smells of roasted coffee, with a hint of caramel malt. Incredible hit of coffee and chocolate malts, very complex flavour that hits you on so many levels. Very smooth tasting, and the taste hits you again, impeccable aftertaste. Just might the best beer I’ve ever had so far. The only complaint think of is it’s thin bodied, that’s it. Incredible.

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Pours dark brown with a stunning coffee-brown and exceptionally creamy head. Really great duration and soft lacing. Stunning sweet aroma, lots of sweet milk chocolate, light coffee notes and mildly roasted. Some vanilla as well. Light and still a bit creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, a good chocolate note and a mild roasted bitterness. This is one hell of a stout, considering the 5 % ABV.

Bottle pours black with two inch mocha head. The aroma is promising to start with a pleasing mix of roasted malts, toffee, burnt malts and some oatmeal twang. The taste is bold and roasty with burnt malts, roasted malts and mild toffee. By midway the burnt malts re-double their assertiveness along side mild malt astringency. The oatmeal comes up a bit short in the flavor and the mouth feel. Still very nice offering.

A black beer with a light brown head. The aroma is chocolate, oatmeal, roasted malt, with a hint of cofee. The flavor is bitter roasted malt, with caramel and oatmeal. Quite dry finish, but very well-balanced. A solid stout

Black pour with a thick, persistent ash-colored head. Nice looking brew. Sweet roasty aroma with a touch of nuttiness and earth in the background. Roast component lays nicely under a vaguely lactose mouthfeel. Bitter dark chocolate finish that is lasting and tasty. Rich, smooth, and roasty.

Bottle: Opaque pour with creamy brown head. Lots of roast in the nose with some grainy earthy bark and dark chocolate. Rich velvety/creamy body with a better flavor than aroma. Richly roasted flavor with some mocha & coffee flavors, accompanied by bitter dark chocolate. There’s also a smoky touch and a tobacco hint in the later palate. Rich malt presence and easy drinking.

Black with a tan head. Aroma is chocolates and coffee. Flavor has a buttery presence to it, but otherwise is a nice bittersweet that finishes strong with a coffee bitterness. Not picking up heavily on the oatmeal though.
