Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Bottle. Pours jet black with a nice tan head, receding slowly. Good lacing. Nose of coffee, with hints of banana esters and diacetyl. Moderately thin body, coffee/chocolate, not very sweet, some buttery/banana notes, harsh astringent finish ruins the experience. Disappointing to say the least.

A nice stout. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Not incredibly strong, but decent. Pour was was a dark black with a nice 3 finger tan head that stayed the whole drink. Taste was great. Strong coffee taste with hints of vanilla and chocolate in the middle. Semi dry bitter aftertaste. Didn’t care much for their other beers, but this was very good.

Chocolate and vanilla on the nose. Pours dark brown, black with a thin tan head. Very smooth flavor, creamy, chocolate, with hints of coffee. My favorite of the 3 we sampled from this brewery.

bottle from matt7215 in a trade. Pours a dark brown/black with thick light brown head which lingered for most of the beer. Good lacing. Aroma is smokey like a cigarette butt and roasted malts. Taste is a very pleasant coffee, roasted malt and oatmeal. Mouthfeel is medium and smooth. Loved this stout!

12oz bottle purchased from LCBO in Toronto for around $2. Pours black with a rich brown head. Strong aroma of malt and chocolate. First taste is rich and thick and slides down the throat. Decent lacing. Taste is full yet smooth. Yum.

12 oz. bottle new to Cincinnati. Pours black with a creamy light brown head. The aroma is roasted malt, some coffee, and a smooth sweet oatmeal. The flavor is similar to the nose with the sweetness coming out a bit more and combining with the nice roasted malts and coffee. A little bitter chocolate in the finish. Medium bodied, creamy smooth mouthfeel. I’m glad someone brought this to Cincy.

Pours a very dark brown, pretty much black in color. Smell is roasted coffee and some oatmeal. Very nice. Plenty of webby lacing on side of the glass. Taste is mostly the same as the nose, but much more astringent coffee in the taste. Pretty bitter in the mouthfeel. Overall a pretty good stout.

Draught at the beer bistro. Dark, dark brown with a creamy tan head. Mild roast aroma with a potent char roast flavor. Full creamy palate. A great blend of sweet coffee characteristics and dry roastedness leave a dry bitterness.
