Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Thanks to radiomgb for the bottle. Pours a dark brown with nice creamy off-white head. Dark chocolate, raisin, plum, roasted coffee, caramel, and oats. Medium creamy smooth mouth feel. A damn good stout.

On tap in the Maxwell’s Plum, Halifax. Deep Brown appearance with a decent off white head. Smoky flavour of roasted malts. Sweet coffee. Smooth to drink and surprisingly easy to drink. Quiet creamy also but at the same time thin somehow. A good beer once again by this brewery. Since had it on tap in the Henry House, Halifax. This beer is class.

Bonus bottle off my wants list from john adam2002. Best before June 30, 2009. Thanks Adam! Pitch black with a creamy small microbubble head. Aroma is that sour dry roasty aroma that I’m not the biggest fan. At least the aroma is very mild, but that’s where it ends. The flavor is a strong dry roasted grains, much like a cigarette butt. Much like the unpleasant Founders Breakfast Stout, it just has too much roasted flavor and is too dry. Apparently this style is great for many, but not for me. A very generous 3.0, only brought up, because it’s probably good for the style. Ug.

One of the better North American breweries puts out one of the continent’s best stouts. Pours black through and through with an appealingly tinted and lively head. Body is just right: not thin but not sticky either. Smooth: making "I’ll have another" come to mind before you are halfway through. Bitterness and strong chocolate malt flavors leave your tongue happy after every sip.

Bottle (341 ml). Pitch black with a red hue when held up against the light, medium creamy brown head. Strong roasted aroma with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, and gun powder. Medium bodied with smooth mouthfeel and low carbonation. Very dry with a lingering roasted bitterness. A tasy and genuine stout but I really cannot understand the high ratings of this one.

POurs deep black with notes of toast, oats, and cocoa on the nose. It becomes light and creamy on the palate and offers a very light finish.
