Dedollewaitor (3622), Odense, Denmark Aug 22, 2007 Pitch black with fine lasting creamy brown head. Chocolate roast aroma. Nice! But the body was quite thin - I know the brew is only 5% but still a shame. Toffee & chocolate. Very pleasant! larsga (2937), Oslo, Norway Aug 19, 2007 Biggish creamy brown-beige head. Nearly opaque black body goes dark red at edges. Soft milky caramel aroma with hoppy notes, very harmonic. Mild acidic-dry milky caramel taste develops into a gorgeous smoky harmonic roasty hoppy aftertaste. Mild and drinkable, and very well balanced. (0.275l draft at Le Barbare, Montreal, under the name "Tiguidou Stout".) Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 18, 2007 Bottle from shigadeyo. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid roasted coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium roasted balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good, but my expectations where not met. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Aug 15, 2007 8/09/2007: St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout is opaque and black (and if not true black than close to it!). The head is dense, foamy, and brown in color. The aroma has chocolate, molasses, oatmeal, and sherry to it. The flavor is dry and ashy with some mild chocolate and a dry coffee finish. It is also slightly sour and burnt tasting. The body of this beer is medium and it seems a bit watery on the palate. Overall I found St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout to be uninspiring. Either I have completely missed something in this beer or I got a bum bottle. Otherwise, I’m not sure why it’s so hightly rated...
341 mL bottle (5% alc./vol. - 31 Juil 08 - 02 76 14:58 QC) from tronraner and shared with Tmoney99 at The Party Source. Rating #567 for this beer...
matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Aug 7, 2007 341 ml bottle. poured black with a brown head that laced the glass nicely. beautiful in the glass. aromas of esspresso and roasty chocolate. flavours are pure stout and are well balanced. this is a great beer but I prefer lion stout. this one was just a little to thin but still quite impressive. mephisto (1144), Taiwan Jul 29, 2007 jet black with creamy nitro head that has beige color. full bodied, it has roasty aroma and flavor. well balanced, the cocolatey flavor and nutty malt profile suites the bitter aftertaste. cyrenaica (435), Milton, Ontario, Canada Jul 27, 2007 Wow! Impressive. I tried this masterpiece..er beer...on July 27, 2007 at the ’Beer Bistro’ in Toronto. It came to me in a glass (on draught) and appeared to be chocolate milk with a thick head. The beer was dark brown, with a medium brown head that lasted throughout the beer. The aroma was a combination of malt, chocolate, and fruits. The mouthfeel was full bodied, and not as thick as I was expecting. Nor was there a whole lot of carbonation. The flavour was full of malt, chocolate, and plums. Overall, this was a truly great experience, and completely surprised me that a stout could provide this. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jul 24, 2007 BCTC 07. Nice deep pitch black color with a creamy lasting tan head. Aroma is fruity, estery with plums, raisins, and some dark chocolate with just bits of roast. Smooth creamy mouthfeel with lots of chocolate malts and a doughy full oatmeal taste, hints of cereal, and light coffee. Good smooth finish. Great Oatmeal stout.
