Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

8/09/2007: St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout is opaque and black (and if not true black than close to it!). The head is dense, foamy, and brown in color. The aroma has chocolate, molasses, oatmeal, and sherry to it. The flavor is dry and ashy with some mild chocolate and a dry coffee finish. It is also slightly sour and burnt tasting. The body of this beer is medium and it seems a bit watery on the palate. Overall I found St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout to be uninspiring. Either I have completely missed something in this beer or I got a bum bottle. Otherwise, I’m not sure why it’s so hightly rated...

341 ml bottle. poured black with a brown head that laced the glass nicely. beautiful in the glass. aromas of esspresso and roasty chocolate. flavours are pure stout and are well balanced. this is a great beer but I prefer lion stout. this one was just a little to thin but still quite impressive.

jet black with creamy nitro head that has beige color. full bodied, it has roasty aroma and flavor. well balanced, the cocolatey flavor and nutty malt profile suites the bitter aftertaste.

Wow! Impressive. I tried this masterpiece..er beer...on July 27, 2007 at the ’Beer Bistro’ in Toronto. It came to me in a glass (on draught) and appeared to be chocolate milk with a thick head. The beer was dark brown, with a medium brown head that lasted throughout the beer. The aroma was a combination of malt, chocolate, and fruits. The mouthfeel was full bodied, and not as thick as I was expecting. Nor was there a whole lot of carbonation. The flavour was full of malt, chocolate, and plums. Overall, this was a truly great experience, and completely surprised me that a stout could provide this.

BCTC 07. Nice deep pitch black color with a creamy lasting tan head. Aroma is fruity, estery with plums, raisins, and some dark chocolate with just bits of roast. Smooth creamy mouthfeel with lots of chocolate malts and a doughy full oatmeal taste, hints of cereal, and light coffee. Good smooth finish. Great Oatmeal stout.

First stout i ever tried, and immediately loved it.. since I have tasted many others but none have defeated this one. Pours a thick and dark brown like any other stout but with a darker head than most others. Taste is a good balance of roasted coffee and chocolate and not too bitter, quite smooth actually.. another one of quebecs gems

This was the very first beer that made me realize how beautiful a stout can be. Prior to trying this, I had only had Guinness which resembles nothing of the same flavour of an Oatmeal Stout. Of course that was when I became legal age to drink and since then I have tried many many stouts, but when I tasted this one I decided I had to make an Oatmeal Stout at home... since then I have been brewing one for nearly 3 years.

Pours an opaque ebony color, head is a dark, murky tan that seems to hover magically on top of the beer. Aroma is coffee, dark roasted coffee with wisps of chocolate peeking thrugh. Flavor is a symphony of intensity, with the coffee seemingly the dominat flavor here. I need more!!!!
