Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

On tap at Beer Bistro (Toronto, ON). Pours a dark brown to black with one finger creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet and roasted with notes of chocolate, brown sugar, ripe dark fruit, light coffee and roasted wood. Flavor is sweet and roasted with notes of light spice, chocolate, coffee, smoke, toasted bread, some hints of brown sugar. Generally medium body with a light roasted finish.

Bottle. Pours almost jet black with dark red/brown edges and a tan head that leaves lots of lacing. Aroma is wonderful with strong chocolate and espresso. Flavour is similar with a little bitterness plus hints of caramel and nuts. A little thinner in the mouth than I was expecting but still a great stout all round.

Must have had a different beer than most here. Poured to a dark brown with medium thick tan head that lasted to mid glass with little lacing. Nose was a faint but pleasant mix of chocolate, coffee and a hint of meal. Mouthfeel was thin and watery, which may have kept me from finding more flavors in the taste. Finish was short, and again, dominated by watery with little remnants of flavor. Not impressed with this one

Pours a murky black with a roasty caramel colored head. The aroma is wonderfully malty and bitter with hints of coffee/espresso. The flavor is an enjoyment from beginning to end, starting with some malt, slight sour with a sweet caramelly middle, finishing roasty and bitter with coffee, dark chocolate, espresso, and malt. We can’t forget the wonderfully creamy mouthfeel! Fantastic!

On tap at Hop Leaf. Poured black with a thick brown head that laced nicely. Aroma was full of roasted malts. Flavor started with a roasted coffee note and then had a slightly bitter finish.

This pours with an unbelievable colour, blacker than Toby’s a**hole, and a proper head as well. You can just smell the malt wafting up from the glass, with a hint of coffee as well. The taste was every bit as good as it looked. Delicious.

Tap@Resto-Bistro Saint-James, Quebec City. Pitch black beer with a strong brown head. The aroma is well roasted and the flavour is deeply hopped, roasted and strongly bitter. Overall a nice stout.
