Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Fantastic world class stout. Tastes exactly like Bell’s Kalamazoo stout actually, but there is a bit more body here, but a slight sacrifice on pure richness. I’d give the nod to Kalamazoo by a bit. Nice coffee taste, and not burnt coffee but fresh coffee. Light brown head and black transparent body. Subdued sweetness, but as you get used to the heavily malted roast complex the sugars start to grow and come forth. Figs and cigar smoke, as well as some slight avacado?

Pours black with thin ruby highlights and a two finger rocky tan head that has great retention. Aroma is roast, oats, a little hardwood smoke, deark chocolate, light roast coffee, tobacco pipe smoke and roasted nuts. Flavor is lots of roast, roasted nuts, fantastic dark roast coffee, some char, hazelnut butter, toasted wood, dark caramel, light toffee, vanilla and some sweet straw. Finish is roast, toasted wood, cocoa, espresso, herbal and bitter hops. Palate is medium thickness, very smooth, creamy feel, nice light carbonation and a slightly oily finish. Fantastic stuff all around.

One of my favorite stouts. Combines a great rich coffee flavor with a smooth drinkability. Great dark body with a tan head. A great stout all around.

A black beer with a light brown head. The aroma is chocolate, oatmeal, roasted malt, with a hint of cofee. The flavor is bitter roasted malt, with caramel and oatmeal. Quite dry finish, but very well-balanced. A solid stout

Nitro tap at Beer Bistro in Toronto. Silky smooth and creamy. Milk chocolate with burnt malt and then coffee. Almost meaty with the oats. Thick and sweet yet dry. Super.

Bottle. Pours almost jet black with dark red/brown edges and a tan head that leaves lots of lacing. Aroma is wonderful with strong chocolate and espresso. Flavour is similar with a little bitterness plus hints of caramel and nuts. A little thinner in the mouth than I was expecting but still a great stout all round.

Beautiful stout on draft in Toronto. Nice balance of coffee, hops, chocolate and malts. Extremely drinkable. Excellent.
