COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Bottle from grocery store Pours pitch black with very nice brown head, which remains. chocolate and coffee notes, hints of vanilla. Iíve tried many other Oatmeal Stouts and this one always comes back as a point of reference. I can get a 6 pack for 7.99$ when on sale at local grocery store. An excellent beer.

Bottle. Pitch black, clear color. Thick brown head. The smell is great, chocolate, mocca, toffee, nuts, absolutely fantastic. The taste is light sweet, at the beginning and ends with a perceptible bitter note. Palate is fresh, with a medium to thick texture. Aftertaste has some more nice coffee and roast notes. Absolutely great stout, love it!

Poured from 341 mL bottle. Incredible aroma of chocolate and coffee. Pours black with brown head. Definitely bitter in taste. Full bodied, slick texture, average carbonation, with a bitter dry finish. Overall a great bitter stout.

Pours an opaque black with a firm tan head. Looks delicious. Strong malt and oat aroma, nice creamy espresso and chocolate. Toffee and molasses amongst the flavours. Creamy mouthfeel and dry finish. Hard to achieve, but works brilliantly

341ml bottle from LCBO, Parkway Mall, Scarborough, ON. 5% Alc. / vol. Pours an opaque dark brown colour with one finger of lasting tanned head. Beautiful lacing. Aroma of caramel, coffee and minimal notes of booze. Taste matches aroma with a dry finish. Medium carbonation.

Pours nearly jet black with only the slightest hints of deep cola brown around the edges, a fat finger of tan head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, and moderate lacing. Nose is coffee, chocolate, caramel, slightly smokey. Taste follows suit with a mild molasses sweetness tempering roasted malt and bitter coffee. Full body and low carbonation, with a creamy mouth feel and dry finish. Now thatís a stout - this is what Guinness wishes it was. (Yes, I once gave Guinness the same rating Iím giving this one. That was then, this is now. Deal with it. Iíll re-review a Guinness sometime and put it where it belongs.) Iíd love to have this on a nitro tap to really amp up the creaminess, but itís pretty decent just as it is. The oatmeal definitely tempers the flavour, giving it a fuller, rounder aspect. This can rightly take its place as one of the best Canadian beers around.

Smells great with a hint of dark chocolate, smooth taste not much of an after taste. Those that like darker beers would enjoy.

On tap at the brewery terrace as part of a 12$ tasting set. A cola black pour with red highlights and a creamy tan head. Rich cocoa and toasted oats aroma. Smooth creamy body and a fairly full mouthfeel. The taste is quite roasty, a bit of coffee grounds, cocoa an toasted/roasted malts. Very nice, seems like a restrained use of black patent malts.

From 473 ml can. Pour is pitchblack with huge tan head. Nose is roasted malts with chocolate and dark chocolate notes. Some light caramel sweetness, too. A little metallic. Favours are again roasted malts with a punch of sourness. Long metallic finish with light bitterness. Pretty light body. Solid oatmeal stout, but I expected more.
