Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Bottle shared by mmtmatrix. Poured a full dark brown color with a moderate beige head that receded to a layer and left good lacing. Aroma of light chocolate, and some espresso-like coffee and cream. Smooth, moderately creamy entry with some light chocolate leads into a light coffee flavor with some moderate roastiness on the finish. Smooth, light on the palate. Pretty nice for a 5% stout. Thanks Malcolm.

Pours black with nice frothy tan head. Aromas of Pronounced chocolate and molasses with tons of roasted malt and a bit of coffee as well. Some sweet fruits poke in there as well. Flavor is roasty though sweet- tons of burnt malts and coffee with a brown sugar and ripe fruit sweetness. A very interesting combination of flavors meld together to create a unique offering. Palate is thick and dry. Tasty Tasty.

12oz bottle. Near solid black with a lasting frothy tan head. I’m amazed that this is only 5% alcohol; the amount of flavor and body almost put it in the imperial range. Big, rich caramel sweetness, chocolatey and roasted malt flavors. Finishes dry, with a firm, yet smooth roasty bitterness. Full and silky body. Smells of rich chocolate mousse. Everything just works.

Pour is a black with no head. Aroma is roasted malt with some coffee and chocolate. Flavor is much of the same. The beer starts off with a sweet chocolate but after the swallow you get more of the bitter coffee. A decent beer and a pretty solid stout although I would probably not spend $9 for the 4 pack of this but picking up another single is not out of the question.

12oz bottle. Pours black in color with full foamy brown head. Aroma sweet, chocolate roasted coffee. Taste malt, coffee and spicey with bitter finish. It did not live up to the hype. Maybe oatmeal stouts are not my cup of tea.

I have been wanting to try this one for a long time. Picked it up in Cincy and just couldn’t wait to pop it open. Sadly, it didn’t live up to the hype and anticipation. Nice aroma, hints of oatmeal and coffee. Flavor is the same, with some chocoate and barley added in. Overall, this one was just too watery. I guess I expected a bigger, bolder "Oat" and this just wasn’t it. Actually, I thought this one was on par with Barley Islands Brass Knuckles.
