Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

Looks nice, light brown orange and sparkling clear. Bitter malty first taste. tends to have more alky flavor than the 5%b listed here. A little strong at times for this lager lover. Did I say its strongish? Near medicinal lingering finish, Interesting lacing. Not worth the $2.50 I spent for the 12 oz twist off bottle. Glad to have the chance to try it though.

Amber with decent, creamy off-white head / Faint, sweet malt nose / Medium body, sweet & malty, with sour finish / Flavors of spun sugar with touch of hop dryness on finish / Not bad, but unremarkable.

Bottle from Wine and Cheese Place in (near) St. Louis, MO. Coppery color with a fine, foamy beige head. Aroma is primarily roasted caramel with a hint of fruity hop. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is rather floral, with light roasted caramel. Halfway between APA and ESB. Maybe the finish is a bit too bit for an ESB. Very refreshing. Smooth with no raw harsh impression. Good drink.

Bottle 341ml @ [ Tasting in Ulfborg ].
Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light to moderate hoppy, grass, toffee, alcohol notes. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (110708)

Pours clear copper with off ehite head. Grassy hop aroma and flavor with a slight fruittiness and some sweet maltiness. Medium body with lively carbonation. I was dissappointed with this one. I really like their oatmeal stout and was hopeing to like this as well.

Pours amber into a shaker. Fluffy pancake head slowly recedes leaving sheet lacing. Sour caramel aromas. Sour from front to back with a lasting bitter hop finish.

Pours out a light copper color with a small to moderate white head. Aroma is of some sweet malts and a little grassy/earhty hop note there too. Taste is very drinkable, sweet malts, slight fuity notes and some hop bitterness lingering throughout.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange with a pale off-white head that lasts for a good amount of time. The aroma is a bread-y dry with some sweet caramel. The hops seem not to be that noticeable. Malts are pretty dominant. The flavour is a bit funky. Orange and orange rind are in the initial flavour. As the flavour progresses, the caramel notes come through as well as that nice breadiness. Some light spices show itself more towards the finish. This is all fine, though, some funkiness begins to arise from here. Towards the back of the tongue, there’s a weird soap-like flavour to it and a light bitterness. I like bitterness, but I think the other flavours make even the lightest of bitterness somewhat unpleasant. I’m not too fond of this brew.
