Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

Pours gold with a big white head. NIce nose, full of fruit and floral. Underlying sweetness that is very tempting. Nice and full in the mouth. Great malts with that nice hint of licorice. Finishes with a nice hop bitterness.

Drank this one out of the bottle as well while playing a game of frisbee golf horse with Lucas. Noticed a little bit of diacetyl in the nose and flavor, but luckily, it didn’t make this completely undrinkable. Flavor has some good hops and malts, but nothing the stands out too much. Drinkable, but far from memorable.

Pours a clear pale copper with a dense, pitted, sticky, off-white head that leaves sheets of thick lace upon the glass. The nose is of bready pale malt with supporting fruity and floral hop notes. Light to medium-bodied and creamy with a mildly dry and bitter finish; nice mouthfeel. Sweet, biscuity malt with a sour tinge leading into a fruity and floral, bitter-hopped finish. This is an interesting pale. With so many "C"-hop pales out there, this is a refreshingly different variation on the style.

Gold, big rock white head. Smells like saltines and black pepper. Flavor is surprisingly fruity, given the aroma, then a crisp, spicy finish. Seems to have a vague English character.

A remarkable amber brown colour with a medium sixed creamy head. An aroma of floral hops and citrusy frutis. A great beer for sitting on a patio. Crisp, bitter, but not overpowering beer that has a fairly normal mouthfeel and a great appearance. Overall, a great beer. Had at Bottlescrew Bills, Calgary, AB.

Pours amber with large frothy head and sports great lacing. Aroma has a nice hoppy backbone with some fruity elements as well as citrus. Flavor is sweet with malt with a good balance of bitterness from the hop character. Not as much bitterness as the aroma would suggest, but it all works nicely here. Palate is full for the style, with a nice crisp, and slightly bitter aftertaste. This is definitely a tastey example of the style.

Pour is a copper with a small white head. Aroma is very faint with just a minor whiff of hops and almost no malts. Flavor is a little better with a bit of fruit in there but not much in the way of a hop profile. The weakest of the 3 i have had from this brewer and nothing that is a must have. Add more hops!

11.5oz bottle. Pours clear amber in color with tan head. Aroma sweet, caramel and grainy. Taste bitter, malty and grainy with bitter finish.
