Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

Bottle and served in standard pint glass: Amber hue with frothy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, bread, grassy and herbal hops, hint of citrus and earthy yeast esters. The taste starts twangy with some apple flavor, grassy hops bring about a light bitterness before a medicinal finish. The mouth feel is lively yet soft, refreshing. Not all that great and needs a better hop profile IMO.

On tap at C’est What? Pours a clear reddish amber with a thin white head. Hops have a medium bitterness. I get some cherries in this. This is really good.

The aroma is malty, grassy, and yeasty in a fruity kind of way. The appearance is amber with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter finish. The palate is thin. Overall it’s pretty good but nothing special.

Bottle from Once Upon a Vine North in Richmond, VA. Pours a reddish amber with a 2-finger head. Citrus and floral hops aroma. Assertive citrus and pine hops throughout with subtle caramel and rye notes. Full bodied, strong effervescence.

12oz bottle-pours a retaining tan head and copper/orange color. Aroma is mild light/medium malt-some caramel, secondary wood/spice hops. Taste is mild light/medium malt-some caramel, secondary wood/spice/hint of citrus zest hops. Mild carbonation. Comes through as more English than American to me. Thanks to jwc215(BA) for sharing.
