Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

Bottle. Light aromas of hay and roasted, moderate smells of resin and herbs for the hops, very light note of earth, and toffee in the background. Head is small, fizzy, white and is mostly diminishing and has just a little lacing. Color is sparkling clear dark amber. Flavor is moderately acidic and lightly bitter to start, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery/dry and has a fizzy carbonation. It finishes lightly astringent. This a good drinking beer but the flavor was just a bit out of balalnce,

Good pale ale. pretty amber color with not much of a head. Crisp one the palate, but a little bitter on the end. Hops are definitely there. Nice pale ale entry.

Bottle. Poured a really full amber color, some copper elements to it. Head was decent, nothing great, nor was the lacing. The aroma was some odd combination of bubblegum, candy, caramel, toffee, and resinous/earthy bitter hops. The flavor followed the aroma, and this thing was just brutally bitter with off earthy/dirty flavors on top of those mentioned in the aroma. I couldn’t get through this beer, as the bitterness and unpleasantness of the flavor just didn’t seem worth the hit on the liver. Shocking to see this as the "flagship" beer and hard to believe it is made by the same folks that make that wonderful oatmeal stout.

Really good pale ale. Rich grainy aroma and flavor. Light and refreshing yet still keeping a nice mouthfeel and perfect balance.

Appearance: Pours a clear, orange-amber body with a thin, wispy, white head. Smell: Butter-basted malt aroma with a scant hint of fruitiness. Taste: Dry maltiness that’s really not biscuity, more like biscuitesque. Flash of sweetness. One pat of salted butter. Juicy, tart fruit flavors of citurs and apricot. Just a bit of earthy bitterness for the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Fair enough for what amounts to an easy drinking, session-type beer.

Moderately dark Amber/Red with a white head. Typical hoppy pale ale with light malty and fruity notes. Starts sweet and finishes with a bitter, crisp aftertaste. Easy drinking and fairly well balanced.

34.1 cl. Bottle. Little cloudy colour with a little white head. Light aroma of hops. Malty flavour with a little touch of hops. Ends up little bitter and dull.
