Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

Pours a transparent orange amber with a wispy-lacing frothy white head. Aroma of fairly fresh citrusy hops with some mild pale malty sweetness. Starts semi-sweet with a decent earthy bittering hop balance before a drier finish. Pretty drinkable and true to style.

Coulda swore it was a blond, but wow I had a lot to drink this weekend so whatever. Golden amber. Aroma is very light, bread, grass, etc etc. Lighter body, fairly well balanced.

0.34 l bottle. Amber color. The aroma and flavor is malty, toffeish and caramelly with judicious amount of lemony and black curranty hops. Tasty!

341 mL bottle. Copper in colour and brilliantly clear, with a small head that recedes to a covering of film. The aroma is mild, but nicely balanced between malt and hops. The taste is quite full for a pale ale, and leans nicely toward citrus/pine hops. Fairly heavy on the carbonation. Nice example of how to do this style well.

Opens with a hoppy aroma and is followed by aromas of sweet malts. Pours a beautiful orangy brown, thick white head that receds slowly. Hop bitterness is present and does not overpower the malty-ness. This is by far one of my favorite everyday drinking beers.

A so so APA. Nothing spectacular. Aroma of grassy hops with just a hint of citrus. Pour was a light gold with a one finger white head. Taste was mostly grassy hops with very little caramel malt to balance it out. Little carbonation. The flavor just does not come through on this. Nice, but could be better.

Bottle sample from distrbutor. Poured clear dark amber with an average frothy off-white head that diminished slowly and produced good lacing. Moderate hoppy citrus aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium hoppy bitter flavor with a medium bitter finish of average duration. Good drinkable brew.
