Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

This beer is the color of the dachshund dog across the street. It is lightly cloudy with a one finger beige head that soon becomes blotchy. Some decent floral hops and sweet caramel in the nose. It is also bready and spicy. Lots of rye and caramel in the beginning. Hops are in the background and adds bitterness along with floral notes. Spice appears soon before mid glass. Hops also show up but never in force. They are floral and pine with some citrus. Malt dominates but hops make it interesting.

Bottle. Golden with a two inch, thick, yeasty head. Bready aroma with caramel. Mouthfeel is fairly thin. There is lots of grass and pine in the hops; I taste some more caramel and grain. Finish is relatively short and slightly bitter.

Bottle. Clear and golden with a little coppery tinge. Nice creamy head. Some nice mild hop aroma. Malt is nice and mildly sweet. Hops have a fair bit of bite for a Pale. I like this beer.

Cloudy clay color with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of dark caramel malt and yeast. Taste is bitter with a bit of creamy maltiness in the finish. Palate is on the grainy side.

A: Poured with an average-sized, white head that diminished to a 1/2-sized finger. Some slight lacing. Body is quite clear, and a nice, dark-yellow color. A very handsome-looking APA. S: Terrific aroma of hops, herbs, and orange. T: A very refreshing, yet slightly-intense flavor of hops that ends fairly bitter, but not overpowering, and with citrus undertones. Taste stays with you for awhile. M: Medium-bodied and slightly creamy, it’s quite soft and pleasant on the palate. Lively carbonation. D: An excellent APA with a lot of character, yet easy to drink at the same time. Another winning entry from a Quebec brewery. McAuslan Brewing and Unibroue are doing VERY well for themselves.

deceptively complex and flavorful. bitter hop presence and finish with good hop spice. complex toffee and vegetable wheat flavor...first time i ever enjoyed that character. not very aromatic as this beer has an old ale flavor composition with no chalk. feels like your drinking harder wow, this is my kind of session. amber brew with white amber rolling head touch of butter...very good

light brown out of a bottle, large bubbly head. bright in hops, grassy, lightly cooked candy, some dark berries on the nose. good balance in the mouth, bright, but not too sharp, looooong lingering finish. flavor was a little on the mild side, but was still enjoyable.
