Enjoyit (1697), Vadum, Denmark May 29, 2007 Cobber of color with a beige head. A nice aroma with grape, citrus and notes of sweet malt. A flavor of citrus, pines, fresh grass, grape. A dry finish. Parksy (40), Alberta, Canada May 18, 2007 Been tyring various beer styles for awhile, and this was the beer that made me decide to sign up to ratebeer and begin to track some of my favorite beers. Very tasty and always enjoyable beer. Haggisboy (9), Montreal, Canada does not count May 5, 2007 This is the beer that kick-started the McAuslan brewery, is owner Peter McAuslan’s labor of love, and has been surprisingly consistent from its inception roughly two decades ago. A true IPA, this beer is only closely rivaled by Bass and some other great British beers. Bitter, with few to no residual esters, this beer goes down smooth and seems to always fit the season. Whether it be a hot summer day when a cool refreshing beer is demanded, to a cold blustery winter horror, St. Ambroise Pale Ale always seems to suit the mood and occasion. Even as a beer lover who prefers Pilseners to ales, this beer is a standout. mannika (98), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 29, 2007 341 mL bottle. Pours an amber with weak head. Aroma is of bitter hops. Taste has a surprising fruitiness, with a bitter bready finish. Overall, pretty nice, standard beer. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Apr 17, 2007 nice golden color, a little lighter than i’m used to in an American pale ale, looks more like a boring lager. Nice bug head, good retention. YOu can definetly get the hops in the aroma, and a some grassy notes. flavour is nice and hoppy, but a little cut back i find. The bitterness is also there, but again, it’s a little toned down. overall nice stuff. JensenTaster (1585), Denmark Apr 15, 2007 (on botle)had two directly from the ottle, so the appearence ws hard to get. The hoppy aroma an the bright bubbles was a delight tho´ and the fresh-cut-lawn/caramel finish was a treat. GreenWall (53), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Apr 13, 2007 Updated: Aug 20, 2008(Re-rate; I learned about beer)
Pours brilliant copper with a smooth beige head, leaving intricate lacing. Grassy/spicy hops and medium crystal malt in the aroma. Caramel sweetness well balanced by smooth and firm bitterness, with grapefruity hop accents. Nice fruitiness. Smooth, crisp, and usually enjoyable (though not entirely consistent). My favourite Canadian APA.
