Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

nice golden color, a little lighter than i’m used to in an American pale ale, looks more like a boring lager. Nice bug head, good retention. YOu can definetly get the hops in the aroma, and a some grassy notes. flavour is nice and hoppy, but a little cut back i find. The bitterness is also there, but again, it’s a little toned down. overall nice stuff.

(on botle)had two directly from the ottle, so the appearence ws hard to get. The hoppy aroma an the bright bubbles was a delight tho´ and the fresh-cut-lawn/caramel finish was a treat.

(Re-rate; I learned about beer) Pours brilliant copper with a smooth beige head, leaving intricate lacing. Grassy/spicy hops and medium crystal malt in the aroma. Caramel sweetness well balanced by smooth and firm bitterness, with grapefruity hop accents. Nice fruitiness. Smooth, crisp, and usually enjoyable (though not entirely consistent). My favourite Canadian APA.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange colour with a nice big creamy off-whitish head. Very fruity, sweet and malty aroma. Less fruitiness in the flavout though it is present, good hoppiness, some sweetness, some maltiness. Rather thin APA.

12 oz bottle from Taktik_MTL, thanks. Poured a sparkling clear honey/amber color with a substantial frothy white head. Aroma is of sweet malts and very pleasant. Initial flavor is of sweet malts then settles to a slight hop bite. Very nice easy drinking beer.

Not a Land Lord bitter, not Full Moon but you could do worse. Page 391 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 199 of his 500 Classic Brew to go.
