brewgirlca (57), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Feb 2, 2007 Bottle. Light fruit and light caramel nose. Low carbonation typical of British type ale. Off white frothy head floating on a pale amber beer. Caramel flavour fills mouth. Low hop bittering, needs more bitter and hop flavour - not American, more of British floral hops. Rich body. Overall a nice beer but is understated in presentation. Should be classified as a Briitish Ale, it is not an American Pale Ale. Slacks (480), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Jan 28, 2007 Draught @ West 50, Mississauga, ON: I need to overcome my fear of the word ’pale’. Years of living in Molbatoria has hardened me. Came cloudy and orange, a bountiful white nitro head that coated the glass and my tongue on the way down. Incredible aroma of floral perfume; I thought I might be out of it but others at the table caught the scent without provocation. Amazing. Flavour is complex for my experience in the style, and who was I to ever doubt McAuslan anyways? Very malty but with a good hop bomb to it, floral, biscuity, caramely sweetness. Great stuff. joergen (8429), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 13, 2007 Bottle.
Cloudy orange coloured with an off white head.
Aroma of caramel, fruits, hops and pine needles.
Flavour of fruits, hops and pine needles. Theis (3617), Denmark Jan 12, 2007 Bottle thank to Sk8viking. Clear amber - white head. Bread, straw, malty, light sour hopped, grass, caramel, pine. High carbonated. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 12, 2007 Bottle. A amber beer with a big white head. The aroma is sweet malty with grass hop nots, the taste is sweet caramel with citrus and grass, high carbonation in a medium body with a dry, hop finish. RaphaelN (195), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Dec 30, 2006 Gorgeous. Just about everything I had last night was! Poured darker than I expected for a pale ale. Small head, and as good as I expected from my past experience with St. Ambroise. . The flavour comprised of sweet ripe fruits and a very nice bitterness lingered in the aftertaste. Best Pale I have had yet. StompBrockmore (300), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 17, 2006 341ml bottle - pours a slightly hazy golden/amber with a medium white head. Aroma is very fruity/floral/creamy - different and interesting, with a good malt presence and flowery hops. Flavour is also fruity and lightly sweet, with ripe notes and good amount of hopping. Somewhat reminscent of an English bitter in many ways. Very flavourful. Good stuff. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 22, 2006 Pours a golden amber with a nice head with some retention and plenty of lace. Aroma of pale malt, floral hopping, and alcohol. Wonderful pale malt flavour with some amber malt. Great hopping, very thirst-quenching without the usual lack of character inherent in such beers. Fantastic hoppy aftertaste blends perfectly with sweet notes that linger on the tongue. Excellent carbonation, slightly thin body but rests easily in the mouth. Tasty - not my favourite style, but a good example of a pale ale with something to say.
