Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

A decent beer, but nothing compared to the oatmeal stout. This is a standard pale ale, ive had better and Ive had worse.

Draught. Creamy white lasting head. Clear amber body. Mild malt aroma. Bitterness as expected. Nothing special.

Brilliant orange-amber with a moderate head. Fresh apricot fruit aroma with some green leafy element too. Initially modestly sweet and lightly fruity, but with a woody dry note in the finish. Surprisingly refreshing despite its complexity and very approachable. Fantastic!

It is a good everyday beer. Good bitter hop taste but a tiny metallic ending.

Brown bottle, 341 ml, expiry date: 02 00; eye: reddish golden with yellow reflections, nice lasting white head, light effervescence, lacing that looks like clouds; nose: malt, caramel, hops, light Madeira; mouth: velvey, liquor-like as the beer is 6-year old, very mild, the Madeira is nicely supported by the malt, there is a big drop in taste, becomes almost watery and ends with a nice bitterness and a bit of acridity, lightly bitter, medium body, nice carbonatation; overall: nice surprise FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 341 ml, date de péremption : 02 00; oeil : doré rougeâtre avec des reflets jaunatres, belle mousse blanche persistante, légère effervescence, dentelle qui laisse des nuages sur le verre; nez : malt, caramel, houblon, madère léger; bouche : velouté, liquoreux probablement parce que la bière a 6 ans d’âge, très douce, le côté madère est supporté par le malt, chute brusque du goût, devient presque aqueuse, puis se termine avec une petite poinle d’amertume et une pointe encore plus petite d’âcreté, légèrement amère, corps moyen, bonne carbonatation; en résumé : belle surprise

Bottle. Amber, champagne bubbles, foamy lacing golden head. Nice honeyish malt overlaid with a subtle hop-profile. Cracker malt, honey, preserved apricots and restrained flowery hop flavor. Good chewy body, creamy mouthfeel. Now this is a pale ale!

Thanks to Hogtown Harry for this one. The pour is dark straw with a 2-finger, off-white head. The aroma is caramel malty, with some honey, apricot, and pale malty honey. The taste was pale malty, with some crisp honey notes coupled with mild hops.

Bottle from Paul (blankboy) Thanks! Pours out yellow brown color, nice head that lasts to the end of it. Taste is rich and smooth, slightly hoppy, perhaps not as hoppy as I was expecting, but tonight I was not in an over the top hop mood, so this one went very nice. Smooth and dangerously drinkable, certainly worth trying whenever found. Really good APA.
