Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

[bottle] Almost clear orange-copper with a nice flanel blanket cover that clings to the glass. Fruity hops and raisiny caramel meld to form a very nice aroma that has just a touch of diacetyl. Citrus and dried fruit flavour in perfect balance with caramel and malt, ending with a pleasant, almost crisp bitterness, the fruit transcending it all. Medium body with medium carbonation.

Bottled. Lovely fruits aroma with apricot, apple and citrus. Oker/amber color, off-white head, good lace. Light sweet, fruity, well hopped, bitter finish. Although just 5% ABV still a little warming.

Bottle. Pours a sparkling amber-orange with an average size white head. Very nice colour but not enough head. Aroma of sweet malt, light hops, fruit and a touch of yeast. Flavour: Oh yeah! This is wonderful. I keep forgetting how great this beer is. Mildly sweet, light hops, citrus, lively carbonation, bitter finish. This is a top-notch ale and one of Canada’s best.

For a pale, it’s really dark, and that’s an understatement. Good drinking ale. Sweet, with a little fruit.

Pours medium gold with thin white head. Aroma is sweet ripe peach and hoppy. Slightly bready. Taste is fruity with a richness and hoppy finish. One of the finest APA’s I’ve ever tried.

Thanks go to my man up north, beerhugger, for this one! It took me awhile to find this stuff in the database. "Where’s the belgian blonde?" It can’t be a pale ale...wha? it is? OK.... Clear, dark golden pour with a beady, thick head. Great aromas, with a sweet malty touch that reminds me of honey and peaches. Just the slightest bit hoppy. Beautifully delicate on the palate, with hints of fruit, fresh dough, flowers, and honey. Malty, lingering finish. This would be a great summer session beer. I don’t really know about this being an APA, but it’s just such a tasty beer, I can’t knock it. Thanks again, Steve!!!

Sweet hoppy flowery aroma, nice red gold colour with little head. Slightly sweet with a bitter hoppy aftertaste. Leaves an odd taste on the tongue I am unfamiliar with.

Bottle (341ml) - Pours a fairly clear glowing coppery amber, quick-dispersing white head, bubbly lacing left behind. Aroma - hop-bitter, slightly sour malt, apricot, grains (corn? canola?). Taste is mild hop, mild grainy malt - smooth, balanced, non-challenging but not boring either. A bit of astringent orange peel and minerals on the palate, starts a tad malty, finishes bitter. Tastes of northern forest and eastern rocks. Not great but very good Canadian ale - why don’t the macros even taste remotely like this?
