Not as muscular as many North American examples of the style - this is at the lighter, summery end of the scale. Amber body with a shallow cap of suds. Really inviting aroma of nutty malts, lychee and toffee. Quite a restrained example of the style. Some caramel malt flavour underpins piney hops. I prefer something a bit chewier than this but this is very sessionable. (341ml bottle from Leura Cellars. BB 31/7/09) Hooker (450), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 11, 2005 Updated: May 3, 20062004 bottle. Light amber color, not highly filtered. Good amount of white head, very well retained. Aroma of floral hops, fruitskin (peach, pear, nectarine, apple), drying bitterness and not much malt detectable in the nose. Flavor is surprisingly bitter to start, not citric bitterness; I do like the hops profile here. Little bit of grassiness, a bit of sweet malt that tastes more suitable to a pilsener than an APA, but it’s refreshing and pretty well balanced regardless of the ingredients used. Finishes with more floral hops, dry bitterness and a touch of sweet fruitiness. bu11zeye (5442), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2005 (Bottle) Pours a murky amber-brown body with a descent off-white head. Aroma of grapes, raisins, and maple syrup. Flavor of malts, caramel, and cola. Slick mouthfeel. Not sure why this is classified as an APA... beerslayer (753), New Jersey, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 1, 2005 341ml brown bottle. I’ve had a lot of beers described as "Pale Ale", most were frighteningly bad. I almost didn’t buy this. but I trusted this brewery, and was well rewarded. Deep gold/coppery appearance. Full, fluffy white head. Fruity nose, nice hop bouquet. Begins with a fruity note, moves towards earthy malt, spicey and bitter hops blend beautifully throughout.
