SimonB (65), Geneva, Switzerland Nov 23, 2004 341 ml bottle. Small white head, fully diminishing, fair lacing. Amber body that seems of average density. Moderated hops aroma (fruity and a bit herbal at the same time). Flowers, citrus (orange) in the nose also as less predominant (more subtle) aroma. Light sweetness and mostly hops of moderated to heavy bitterness as initial flavors. Hops and even heavier hop bitterness (but not as hoppy as you may think or as I may like) as final flavor of average to long duration. Medium body, fizzy carbonation (too much to really appreciate it to its full potential). Still a decent beer but would benefits a lot more from less carbonation and a bit more complexity. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Nov 4, 2004 Bottle. Very happy to pick some of this up on the MTL trip. Beautiful pour, color and head. Nice dough aroma. Taste is malty and a bit astringent. Nice and hoppy, something I wasn’t expecting. collieman (191), montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 3, 2004 Updated: Jul 9, 2005The best beer widley avalible in Montreal. Spicy coper color like a pale ale should be. {most north americans think pale meens yellow, idiots} Lovley medium bitter ale, smokey, malt, hop, bitter. Highly carbonated for a bitter, large bubbles comprise thick head. tight nose. RUNS down the throat deffonetly a pint to be murderd in the hot sun. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Nov 2, 2004 Large, light tan head of fine bubbles. Settles slowly with good carbonation and decent lacing. Nice hoppy aroma. Little floral and a little citrus. Well balanced with a bit of caramel malt. Color is a nice amber. Well balanced flavor with pretty subdued hops. Expected more hops and bitterness. Finish is slightly dry with a mellow lingering bitterness. A decent beer but a little soft for a pale ale. Duke (117), New York, USA Sep 25, 2004 Medium amber pour, small white head. Hoppy and sweet fruit in the aroma. Very good hop flavor, nice bitterness in the finish. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 15, 2004 St. Ambroise scores another winner. Great tasting, with a refreshing, semi-sweet, malty and spicy palate and flavor. Aroma is light from what is expected from ales. Good brew! BobP (3), Quebec, Canada does not count Sep 10, 2004 I am a fan of this beer first because I love the taste, and also because it is a local brew to me. If I had to pick one ale to live from for the rest of my life, this is th eone. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Aug 20, 2004 Pours a clear copper with an ample frothy beige head. Subtle aroma is sweet, floral, hoppy. Nicely carbonated with a bite to the mouthfeel. Taste is slightly sweet, fruity, hint of spice. Very pleasant drink. Thanks, Dave.
