COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

2 finger head. Pale looking but ambery to light. Carbinated for a while. Smell is of like citrus, and other stuff from hoppy beer’s. Taste is light grapefurit, light pine because it seems like its going that way but never taste full on pine or grapefruit and mabye a tad citrusy. Some sips the hops tingle inside a little. Full bodied. I’m thinking a milder version of there IPA but I don’t know. Hop heads probably would want it hoppier but like it more then a malt maniac would. It’s allright. 5/10

Bottle 341ml. Pours clear golden with meidum off-white head. Good lacing. Aroma is of malt, sligth fruits, honey, sweetness. Taste is of malt, sligth sweetness, some bitterness. Palate: light-medium body. Overall: Interesting balance. Refreshing. Better than expected.

Bottle. Watery orange to cola colored pour with minimal head. This tastes a bit flat. Moderate caramel sweetness and a hint of citrus. Easy drinking but fairly dull and boring.

Pours a clear amber color with a nice ivory head. Leaves a nice amount of lace on the glass. Smells of sweet malts and some faint citrus notes. Taste is clean upfront and then finishes with a very smooth bitterness.

Pours good golden hue with some good frothy head. Aroma comes in well and taste has some hoppy notes but nothing hits more than average.

Poured a clear golden amber colour with a two-finger off-white sudsy head that retained well and gave good lacing. Aroma of sweet malt. Taste slightly bitter as influenced by hops - hops provides some bitterness but this is not over-bearing. Medium body. Long slightly bitter finish. A good pale ale.

341 ml bottle. Beautiful dark gold color. Two finger off-white head. Smell is not too inspiring, metallic and slight alcohol. Taste is firm bitterness, slight hints of caramel, maybe some maize. There is a faint hops flavor, but not quite present enough for a pale ale, in my opinion. A bit of a sharp alcohol taste which is distracting. Overall, this beer is a bit disappointing, but in all fairness, it was once my favorite beer many years ago. Great "stepping stone" beer for those who are moving away from the macro brews and more towards craft beer. If this had more hops flavor / aroma, I’d be sold, and I don’t say that as a hop-crazy IPA fan, I just think it would really compliment this beer.

Pours a clear medium amber with a thin head and a full wash of lace. The flavor is straightforward - good caramel malt at the onset gives way to a light but clear hop finish. Unassuming, yes; also good tasting, easy drinking, and sessionable. Recommended

Aug 22 2012. 341ml bottle pours clear amber-red with 2 inch foam head. Head settles to cap and has good lacing retention through duration of drink. Aroma is strong biscuit malt with traces of an earthy hops. Flavour starts with honey/caramel biscuit followed by grassy hops. A well balanced brew with a dry finish, crisp mouthfeel, and lingering bitterness - not strong but present.
