COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

UPDATED: APR 5, 2013 Une bonne blonde, mais il manque la complexité et l’originalité pour le distinguer. L’aröme est clairement de malt. Le goüt a un peu de malt et caramel avec une finale lègèrement amer.

From a 341ml bottle on 14/1/2013. Pours a clear very deep golden with a medium head. Has a mild aroma of caramel and toffee malt, with some stewed fruit also present. The flavour is dominated by sticky toffee, butterscotch and caramel malt, with some sweet stone fruit in the mix (apricot in particular). Has a quite spicy, medium hop finish. A nice, distinctive malt driven ale. Doesn’t taste like an APA to me.

Kaatuu lasiin ruskeanoranssina, keskikokoisella katoavalla vaahdolla. Haju on ruohoinen, sitruksinen, maltainen ja pihkainen. Maku on mieto, ruhoinen, hedelmäinen, maltainen ja pihkainen. Suutuntuma on ohuehko, pieni humalan puraisu tuntuu. Kokonaisuutena helppo ja raikas juotava, joskin turhan mieto.

Des houblons subtils mais assez présents pour donner un peu de lustre à un corps assez bien portant.

Clear light copper, foamy off white head fades. Rich malt, grassy hop aroma and taste, lightly sweet, caramel and pine notes. Well balanced. Average carbonation, medium bodied, moderately hopped. Light dry bitter finish. Well made pale. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2012 Bottle (341 ml). Dark copper with a medium creamy off-white and good lacing. Aroma of caramel, fruits and slight herbal notes. Taste is fruity with a slight malt presence and fainted grassy hops. Mouthfeel is a bit thin and watery. This beer is very refreshing and drinkable. For the price, it’s a really good summer beer. I can’t read the BB date on the bottle (partially erased) but I think this bottle may not be extremely fresh because the fainted hops and the watery mouthfeel. I’ll have to try this beer again in a near future. (7-4-7-2-13) Re-tasted fresh. Color is more pale. Hops are more present. Mouthfeel is less watery. Refreshing and drinkable. A good table beer. Adding + 1 to mouthfeel (7-4-7-3-13)

2 finger head. Pale looking but ambery to light. Carbinated for a while. Smell is of like citrus, and other stuff from hoppy beer’s. Taste is light grapefurit, light pine because it seems like its going that way but never taste full on pine or grapefruit and mabye a tad citrusy. Some sips the hops tingle inside a little. Full bodied. I’m thinking a milder version of there IPA but I don’t know. Hop heads probably would want it hoppier but like it more then a malt maniac would. It’s allright. 5/10
