Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

Pours a light amber color. Nice size and long lasting head. Hoppy, flowery perfume aroma. Medium bodied, slightly malty, caramel flavors, metallic / dry finish. Not bad at all and quite an enjoyable beer.

On tap @ Beer Bistro in Toronto. Pours clear copper with white head. I had it right next to the Durham Hop Addict, and I think I liked the Hop Addict better. More malt flavor than hops, but it was well balanced. A little caramel and pine flavor though.

Dark amber colour. Grapefruit aroma with slight herbal notes. Actual malt taste found in an APA while the hops wait patiently to make an impression. A pleasant liquid texture on the way down. Tthis is a really nice summer quaff. Subtle and nicely balanced, it doesn’t try to hit you over the head with a hop mallet.

Butter’s 4th cellar reduction. Clear amber with a nice white head. Sweet orange citrus aroma but a let down as far as taste goes. Could have been a little hoppier,

Bottle at the Fourth Butters’ Cellar Clearance Event. Fruity and floral hop profile with a little skunk. Nice mellow hop with a little butter, and balanced. Good for style, but not my thing.
