St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

Bottle. Pours amber red with a small quickly fading white head. Aroma of malt and a touch of alcohol. Tastes sweet and malty but lacking in hops and bitterness, Quite a bland finish.

Pours dark orange with a deep foamy cap that you’d expect to find on a cream ale. An almost non-existent nose. This is a smooth pale ale that stays far, far away from the west coast. Which is fine cuz this pre-dates the current west coast Ontario/Quebec fad phase. Decent, clean, balanced, well crafted. But kinda boring compared to what else you can reach for. Serve it to your future brother law when he comes over for the first family bbq.

J’adore! Je ne m’en lasse pas!

473 mL can. An excellent pale ale. Pours a light brown with a modest head that dissipates quickly. Hoppy aroma. Nicely balanced on the tongue. Nice long slightly bitter finish. Really well done. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Bitter Tasting Room in downtown Vancouver. Served in a straight up stein. A very large pour in my world. A very nice pale ale with generous amounts of caramel. The alleged hops aren’t coming through for me, at least not yet.
