Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

Pours an orange-amber colour with a nice big white head. Aroma has notes of grapefruit, pine, resin... cascade hops. Some green apple, floral notes, caramel, and some biscuity malt are on the nose as well. Grapefruit is the dominant flavor initially on the palate, along with caramel, vanilla, green apple, pine and resin. I’m going to say crystal and caramalt combo with cascade hops. Nice pale.

12 oz bottle. Pours a amber color with a small white head. Aroma is malts, hops, and a light caramel taste to it. Flavor has a decent hop bitterness to it, and a light crisp malt flavor and a smooth finish. Not extraordinary, but a solid APA.

Good every day drinker this. Standard issue in appearance although the nose threw up some slightly concerning stale lager notes early but these soon blew off. A hint of fruit sweet ness as well. Palate is a bit hard to read; some bitterness but not in the resiny North American mould, mild fruitiness and a slightly spicy finish. Not much to get excited about but not bad all the same.

On tap at restaurant, Pours amber, no head (dunno how it was poured in my glass) nice color. Not a lot of aroma. Some fruit and caramel maybe. Lovely taste, lots of fruit considering the type of beer. It surprised me a bit. Some caramel also. Nice beer, very drinkable, refreshing fruity taste. Rating no 10. 090206. Re-rate 090423. Had this one a lot of times. Aroma is a 6 at least. Flavor is 8. I realy like this beer. Re-rate 090507. Had it from a bottle in a bar. it was not as good as it is on tap. The spirit was there but it seemed less fresh. Aroma was less present, same with taste. Almost boring. Did not change my rating based on that sample.

Light Amber pour with fizzy thin head. light malty, sugary aromas, hints of peach fuzz and molasses. Crisp clean palate, light maltiness, caramelly, slight hop bitterness at the finish.

Only real place this beer falls short is in aroma. Nice kick of a taste with hop and some bitterness.

12 oz bottle from Ralphs Palm Springs. Nose of light floral hops, a light peach note, sweetness, and caramel. Clear copper with a medium oatmeal colored head. Flavor was lots of caramelly malt, light hop bitterness, and some fruitiness. Would make a good session beer.
