pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA Dec 26, 2008 Dark amber with a thin tan head. Aroma is a light maltiness, caramel, dark fruit. Taste is a light hoppiness, with plenty of crystal malt, light earthiness. martin21 (156), Quebec city, Quebec, Canada Dec 26, 2008 Un peu moins fruiter qu une esb, une amertume de houblon moyenne mais avec une presence aromatique intensifier. Presence d un peu de caramel. Tres bonne.
Less fruity than a esb, medium hop bitterness with a more intense aromatic presence. A touch of caramel. Very good. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Dec 22, 2008 Amber pour with a small white head. Subtle malt nose with a dash of hops and some biscuity yeast. Flavor is lightly bitter hops over a nice caramel malt backbone. Good. tjthresh (1749), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Dec 16, 2008 Pours slightly hazed amber with a bit of white head. Sort of an orange hop aroma with some buttery malt. Flavor is citrus and caramel. Pretty easy drinking. I would drink it again if I end up in Canada. Shag (1922), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Dec 7, 2008 This poured an amber color with a beige head. The aroma contains some citrus, caramel, and a yeasty presence. The flavor is well balanced. I taste some citrus mainly lemons and grapefruit but also get more yeasty notes along with some caramel and toffee. This one seems to walk the line between being an APA and an EPA. But regardless its a different beer and quite good. mcsquint (93), , Missouri, USA Nov 29, 2008 Poured from 11.5oz bottle into pint glass
Aroma - Malty, fruity, yeasty. Slightest hint of citrusy hops
Appearance - Dark golden amber with large, creamy white head. Considerable lacing on the glass.
Flavor - Full malt flavor with fruit and yeast, followed by a very tasteful use of hops. This is delicious!
Palate - Light to medium with a very crisp finish. Leaves you longing for the next sip.
Overall - Very drinkable. This bridges the hop gap between British and American pale ale.
marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA Nov 27, 2008 This copper ale poured with a substantial beige head that lasted a while. The flavor is rather thin, but has some nice tasting caramel malt and a slightly bitter finish. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Nov 26, 2008 Bottle picked up at Del Cerro Liquor. This brew pours a clear dark amber color. Not much foam. Aroma is somewhat grainy with some maltiness. Some breadiness as well. Sweet and somewhat fruity up front. Some maltiness along with a bit of hop bitterness in the finish. A little different than your average APA, just not that great.
