Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

Sampled on 11/12/08. This Pale Ale pours a deep copper color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is caramel and fruity, with some floral and spicy hops. A medium bodied Pale Ale. The malts are caramel and sweet, with a strong fruity character. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. Good carbonation. The fruitiness is well balanced by the hops bitterness. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle @ Victory Cafe. Dark amber body with a moderate creamy off white head (3+). Fruity aroma with modest hops and surprisingly noticeable alcohol, much more than it should have for such a low abv brew. Similarly fruity flavour is roughly diminished by a strong alcohol presence that is not particularly well integrated into the rest of the flavour. Average palate. Not a great example of this beer. Disappointing. 6/3/5/3/10 - 2.7 <P>July 2003. Had mixed experiences with this. One tasty too warm and too fruity, one perfection of a pale ale at St. Lawrence beer festival, and one unbalanced hop profile on tap. 4/3/5/3/12 - 2.7

Bottle. Pours a golden body with a mostly white head. Soft grain y dry bitter hoppiness. Some dried fruit and pine. Nothing special.

Bottle. [Courtesy of Papsoe, another great session @ Papsoe] Small fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Spare lacework. Slight dark golden color. Aroma of floral, pine, dry hops feel, caramel, light notes of apricot and some fruit. Medium bodied with a dry texture and an average carbonation. Light bitter flavor with some sweetness. Very smooth and pleasing mouthful. Light dry and floral bitter finish that lasted. Very nice indeed. 31-08-2007

Bottle. Amber, champagne bubbles, foamy lacing golden head. Nice honeyish malt overlaid with a subtle hop-profile. Cracker malt, honey, preserved apricots and restrained flowery hop flavor. Good chewy body, creamy mouthfeel. Now this is a pale ale!

Dark gold color with no head. Just a slight grain aroma. More of the same in the taste, just a bit of grain. I didn’t get any hops at all; it was more like a bland pale lager. Disappointing.
