Commercial Description:
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

Medium amber pour, small white head. Hoppy and sweet fruit in the aroma. Very good hop flavor, nice bitterness in the finish.

341ml brown bottle. I’ve had a lot of beers described as "Pale Ale", most were frighteningly bad. I almost didn’t buy this. but I trusted this brewery, and was well rewarded. Deep gold/coppery appearance. Full, fluffy white head. Fruity nose, nice hop bouquet. Begins with a fruity note, moves towards earthy malt, spicey and bitter hops blend beautifully throughout.

Rerate: Receive from Mr. K. Very very fresh, with a watermelon/peach quality, like Stone pale. A good hit of earthiness in the nose, and nicely done eveerywhere else. I was too loaded in Toronto when I had this the first time! Original: 7/22/02: My notes only say ’Sweet - super fresh’ - uh oh. On tap at C’est What, Toronto.

Pours orange/copper, slightly cloudy with a nice frothy head. Aroma is citrus fruits (Lemon and orange rind, a bit of grapefruit), mild yeast and malt. Flavours are very nice, citrus fruits, yeast and a bit of bitterness at first but a fairly heavy finish. Mouthfeel is quite creamy. Very refreshing

Bottle: Slightly hazy, amber coloured, smaller, absolutely stable head, that sticks to the glass; enormous aromatic hoppy and fruity nose, some malt in the background; stronger bitter-sweet flavour; peppery hoppy, resinous finish, well balanced by some malt, lingering bitter aftertaste. Superb stuff, joss !

Really good pale ale. Rich grainy aroma and flavor. Light and refreshing yet still keeping a nice mouthfeel and perfect balance.

Six-pack from the Beer Store. Pours nicely, a good creamy off-white head with an attractive orange body. Maltier and less hoppy than I expected from the aroma. A very good beer.

12 oz bottle from Ralphs Palm Springs. Nose of light floral hops, a light peach note, sweetness, and caramel. Clear copper with a medium oatmeal colored head. Flavor was lots of caramelly malt, light hop bitterness, and some fruitiness. Would make a good session beer.
