Commercial Description:
Also known as St.Ambroise Millésimée.

In honour of our tenth anniversary, McAuslan Vintage Ale has been brewed to continue the centuries-old tradition of strong ales and barley wines. Vintage Ale is rich and malty, with a surprisingly well balanced and clean hop finish provided by classic Goldings hops. The ale is unfiltered and derives its orange hue from wheat malt blended with pale and Munich malts. The malts also provide a hints of caramelized fruit reminiscent of a Christmas pudding.
McAuslan Brewing will celebrate each new year by brewing Vintage Ale on our anniversary. As a vintage product, we estimate this ale will remain in good condition for a number of years.
The 2006 edition is down from 9.4% to 9.2%. In 2007 this went to 8%. In 2009 this went to 9.8%.

Bouteille 2006. Finale assez longue. C’est vraiment ouf WOW.

2001 bottle.. looks a lot like the photo at left! Believe this was from turg. Poured a deep, murky reddish-brown with a very nice initial cap of off-white head.. receded after a couple minutes to a pool and a light ring. The aroma was quite brilliant with rich sherry and vinous notes.. spiked caramel and dry floral hoppage.. really nice!

Syrupy caramel and dark fruit entrance in the mouth filling out with rich sherry notes, floral hoppage, and complimentary alcohol.. rich, well-aged sugars linger on the back before sliding gracefully through the warm and mildly bitter finish. Thickened up as it progressed across the palate with well-placed bitterness and alcohol warmth. Very good brew!

Light brown with zero head. Left an oily film on the sides of my glass with a swirl. Wonderful oxydized malty aroma, with rock candy, pineapple, and maple character. Sherry and a bit more pineapple. Wonderfuly rich palate. Top notch brew. Thanks csbosox.

Bottle, at csbosox KC tasting 4/14. Bottle provided by csbosox, thanks for sharing this gem, Chris! Aroma is licorice and malt. Taste is mostly malt, touch of the licorice and just a beautiful finish. Just smooth and creamy, with notes of Bourbon. Beautifully done, and aged.

Bottled (Nr. 2891, thanks oh6gdx). Hazy amber in colour. It has a minor brown head, lacings. The aroma is plummy, alcoholic with hints of raisins. The flavour is a mixture of alcohol, plums, raisins and coffee. There is a sweet aftertaste and an inbound dryness in this beer.

It always nice to meet another Ratebeerian and meeting one from another country is rare, especially when you’re meeting up with them in Savannah, GA. MartinT and family were driving up from Florida on their way back to Montreal and we met up at Moon River. Martin was cool enough to bring a few beers for me to try and this was one of them. Pours a slightly hazed reddish brown with an ample, but not booming head. Strong hoppiness, slight bit of straw in the malt, but more pale malt. There’s a slight harshness that age would likely mellow eventually.

Bottled (2000 vintage, 10.2 %, thanks Bov!). Hazy brown colour, small beige head. Aroma is plummy, alcoholic, toffeeish, wineous and spicy. Barnyard, berries and plum in flavour along with leathey and alcoholy hints. A bit glueish and redwineish. Pleasant thing overall.

Another generous gift of Lubiere! Deep foxy amber with a nice off-white head. Aroma of raisin, alcohol, orange. Sweet fruity taste, but with a nice gentle bitter end. Some chocolate notes and toastiness as wel, that prevent the beer from being syrupy. Very nice beer!
