dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Sep 27, 2009 2009. Wife is getting better; she correctly identified this as a barleywine from just the aroma. This is good. Sweet rich a nice strong ale with a big molasses aroma. A hint of caramel in this and a nice dry finish. Excellent. Weedking4 (33), Stratford, Ontario, Canada Sep 26, 2009 12oz bottle, 2009 edition. Pours a dark amber clear colour, wth the slightest of haze to it. Alc.% is well hidden, fairly easy to drink. More of a malty taste then the hops. Pretty solid beer overall, considering the 9.8%. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate earthy and small caramel malty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration.
This is a complex very good beer.
