Commercial Description:
Also known as St.Ambroise Millésimée.

In honour of our tenth anniversary, McAuslan Vintage Ale has been brewed to continue the centuries-old tradition of strong ales and barley wines. Vintage Ale is rich and malty, with a surprisingly well balanced and clean hop finish provided by classic Goldings hops. The ale is unfiltered and derives its orange hue from wheat malt blended with pale and Munich malts. The malts also provide a hints of caramelized fruit reminiscent of a Christmas pudding.
McAuslan Brewing will celebrate each new year by brewing Vintage Ale on our anniversary. As a vintage product, we estimate this ale will remain in good condition for a number of years.
The 2006 edition is down from 9.4% to 9.2%. In 2007 this went to 8%. In 2009 this went to 9.8%.

Chocolate on the flavor, more dark fruit. Some subtle spicing. More Caramel in the finish. Hoppiness is great. Not too much bitterness. Awesome stuff. Thanks a billion Francios!!!!!!!!!!!

2001 vintage. I got the very hazy bottom of the bottle--lucky me! Raisins, brown sugar, wood, and lots of sweetness, laced with that familiar flavor of a vintage beer. A little sharp on the edge, but not super thick of palate. Really solid, though I didn’t rave about this as others did this night.

Bottle. Beautiful brown sugar, cookie dough, tobacco nose. Tawny brown body with almost no head, just spotty islands of bubbles. Taste-earthy, cereal, roasted marshmallow, brown sugar like sweetness.

2001 vintage ale, with a dark mahogany color, with a tan-colored head, but falls quickly, forming a ring in the glass. The nose is one of sweet caramelized malt, strong butterscotch note, fruity accent, roasted malt, and a toffeeish touch in the aroma, follows through on a smooth full-bodied palate, with a rich sweet caramelized malt charecter, mellow texture, note of chocolatey pralines, and candied fruits, even a hint of rum flavor, with a toffeeish accent, leading towards a sweet malty and warming alcohol finish.
