matta (1137), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 16, 2005 Many thanks to friend and beer trader Rastacouere for sending me this extraordinary beer sometime last year!
Rating # 825
Vintage 2001
Pours an almost muddy brown body with edges of amber and gold. I can note a hint of oxidation in the aroma and flavor… but I can tell it is going to work to the beers advantage. Lightly sour submissions from the yeast. Hints of apple and pear, rather yeasty and doughy at times. The flavors from the malt bill are terrific… a tasty and exceptional blending of brown sugar, caramel and toffee, green raisins and ripened fig. The hops are earthy and have hints of spruce tips and oak cask in the finish… even some lighter natural tobacco wrappings! What a wonderful palate… very creamy and sinuous… a very enjoyable beer and a terrific way to kick off a well deserved weekend! pah57 (10), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 7, 2005 Bottle# 10386. Amber colour. Gognac-like nose, with dried fruits. Flavour is clearly alcoholic and has notes of dried fruits and cognac. Body got lighter I suppose? joergen (8430), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 17, 2005 Updated: Nov 12, 2007Bottle, tahnks to MPA for sharing.

JensenTaster (1585), Denmark Aug 16, 2005 (on bottle at RBESG 2005, vintage 2001)Even though is has had some 4 years to mature, this beer is still very alcoholdominated. Nose of alcohol and peat-honey. dark amber colured and with a small, lasting, white head. Not complex in taste either; burnt figs and alcoholwarmth is overwhelming. Too much for me. hammenlind (738), Sundbyberg, Sweden Aug 16, 2005 Hazy dark amber, thin white head with some lacing. Malty nose. acidic, vinegar flavour. Somewhat alcoholic. Slight woody in finish.
